problem: the carpet smells like poop. they had cats n dogs.

i'm having the carpet replaced, but will that get rid of the smell? or will it stay even after the replacement?

Get the carpet replaced is the best thing you could do. I guarantee you the smell will be gone.

Remember that you have to replace the carpet pad as well..... not just the carpet. The smell will seep into the padding as well.

been there, done that.

yep, the carpet itself, and the pad/foam/whatever was used between the carpet and the concrete flooring ... the concrete shouldnt have taken on the smell, but I suppose if it sat there long enough it may have?

I guess my fiancee and I were fortunate that we didn't have to go thru too much stress getting our house....

The only stress we've had is trying to find someone to mow the lawn....
Since I'm Mexican I'm boycotting the whole do-it-yourselfer lawnmowing...

The end will definitely pay off!

Now I'm wondering how many cats/dogs the previous owners had that it smells that bad and did they turn it into a complete pigsty?!?

Replacing carpet with ceramic tile was the best thing I ever did to my house. Now I can poo on the floor and it wipes right up!
