still wondering here the hell its going to hit. I still want to say between corpus and port lavaca. they keep saying its going northeast. the reason i say this is because there will be high pressure over that part of texas which will bump it further west.

but right now, its anybodys guess.

this is a cool site to track hurricanes, i use it all the time.
http://www.stormpulse.com/

its almost time for the big show and having a front row seat is not a good idea.

Right now they are saying that by the time Ike hits land it will be a very strong category 3 or possibly a 4. By the time it reaches Austin it will be a strong category 1 or possibly a 2. It is not suppossed to drop down to a tropical storm status until it passes through Waco and will not go into a tropical depression until it passes through Dallas. The storm also has made a significant turn in a northern direction which is the cause to the mandated evacuations. Unfortunately the majority of the state will feel the effects of this storm. I know that I have a ton of facilities (nursing homes and hospitals) in the southern part of the state that are evacuating to the facility I am at in Rockdale. But the weather here is going to be pretty significant too. I have been through several hurricanes when I lived on the East Coast and like stated above, make sure you have plenty on non perishable food, water, flash lights, and batteries. Make sure anything you have stored outside is secured or brought indoors. Taping the windows in your house in the shape of an "X" is not a bad idea either. This will minimize the amount of flying glass incase a window breaks or you can actually board the windows up which is the best preventative measure you can take. Stay in the center of the house away from windows and you should be good. Hurricanes especially this size are gonna have extremely strongs winds and with the gusts trees can blow over, telephone poles can go down, and roofs can fly off. Keep this in mind and position yourself accordingly. Right now I know that traffic is so backed up with all of the people trying to evacuate. On top of that Mexicans are flooding the Mexican border trying to get as far north as possible which isn't helping travels for our people. For all those in the southern area I will keep you all in my prayers.

Hey guys be safe out there and listen to the warnings. If the news says get out, please do not be stubborn and stay. Get to safety. I dont wanna hear any of my fellow Scion peeps and their families getting into any danger. Mother nature is no joke. I could give 2 sh!$ts on earthquakes, but I would fear hurricanes anytime.

Keep us posted on your conditions too. Much love from the Westcoast.

dont really know if you have to chase a hurricane since it will come to you.

I have the same thoughts about becoming a storm chaser just because i love being out in inclement weather. i was out driving my truck when everything outside was ice, go stuck in a little valley in the road. that was interesting - eventually i was able to get out of it. then going south on 35, hit a big patch of ice and did a 180. didnt hit anything since i knew how to keep it in control even though you dont have much of it when sliding sideways.

i still want to give storm chasing a try but i dont think i will be able to do it since there are not many tornadoes around san antonio.
