Hurricane Ike
Roughly 75% to 80% of the Houston/Galveston area has been without power for almost 24hrs now. Power is not expected to be restored for at least a few days in most areas.
Hopefully all our SL friends are doing well and staying safe

muhahaha i have everything now :D come to the restuarant to eat! we're gonna be sooo packed tonight! ugh! well we gotta make up for what we didnt open friday night and all day saturday...
i have power again! man that was a hot and humid 36 hours or so. lost some shingles, fences swayed a bit, but for the most part everything is ok! neighbors' trees uprooted but luckily it missed our stuff. the cars are ok, but tree branches barely missed them lol
Sup folks? well I'm back at home in brazoria Tx., small town about an hour and a half south of galveston, well, GOD blessed us, we got alot of wind, lots of fences down, lots of downed tree's but no flood damage or roof damage, we evacuated to some place called madisonville, the damn hurricane turned and headed straight to the hotel i was in, haha so the power got knocked out in my hotel, 70 mph winds. But i'm home with power, GOD bless everyone still out there, Stay safe.
Well I am glad to hear a lot of you are okay. I was watching the weather channel all weekend. I hope no one is put into the situation where they lost their homes. For those that lost something, be relieved that you are alive.
Yeah some parts of galveston are completly washed away and gone, it was nasty, IKE was a beast, i was watching the local news, and said the hurricane's rain and wind bands stretched all the way up to ohio and knocked out power, thats crazy.
man i just looked on t.v. they say it supposed to go all the way up to quebec canada with 50 mph winds and get back in the water, thats some crazy s****, for real, texas to canada? I gotta see it to belive it

our power came back on last night, alot of trees down my rs5 stayed next to the house against a fence from the oncoming winds an survived with just leaves on it. an where i do usually park a tree fell so im glad i did move my box. some area's still have no power an its hetic out there.. as far as i know CRYSTAL BEACH is no longer a beach its just slabs of concrete wit some poles sticking out of the sand.
...glad to see others made it through unscathed.
We lost power around 4:30am Saturday morning and still have not gotten it back. According to Centerpoint, it may be Thursday or Friday before they get to us. I am currently at work on the west side where everything seems to be working OK with the exception of a few locations.
The house and all 3 cars made it through without a scratch, but my neighbors and a few friends are not so lucky. Two of my coworkers own houses down in the Galveston area, one on Tiki Island and the other on the bay side. The house on Tiki Island is still standing, but was under 5 foot of water. They don't expect to be able to return to the house until sometime later this week.
According to local reports, the house on the bay side is destroyed. No one is allowed to cross the Causeway at this time, so there is no confirmation at this point.
I have friends up near the National Forest whose dream home, which is less than 2 years old, had the roof ripped up by flying oak trees. The extent of the damage is not yet clear and it will probably be a few days before anyone can get out to officially assess the damage. Needless to say, the owners are heartbroken.
I have several friends down the street who had the shingles stripped from their house and another who had a small tree thrown through their front windows during the storm.
The good news is none of these problems resulted in any injury.
If anyone has any friends out in the Tomball/Magnolia area that have not yet made contact and would like me to go by and check up on them, just PM me. I should be online at work all week.

Our power just got back, been without power since the storm hit hard. Its been hard to sleep with all that humidity, my house just got a couple of leaks but nothing major. Glad to see most of you guys made it out ok.
Not to wander into the wrong regional forum, but I'm just checking to make sure everybody's okay.
Along with their Scions.
This may change in the next few days, but so far I haven't seen any reports of anyone on ScionLife losing a car due to the storm! I started out in my own regional forum (suburban Chicago) and I've been working my way south. So far so good!
And we ALL know that if our car was crushed under a tree the first thing we'd do is post about it here ;)
I don't know how y'all handle this "seven hours of storm" nonsense - I prefer our good old-fashioned midwestern tornados. You run around screaming like a crazy person for 20 minutes and then you're good to go.
Anyway, it's a relief to see that nobody's out a car. I damn near lost my xB in a flooded IHOP parking lot, of all places (luckily we took my boyfriend's car to get brunch..HAHA! Er, ahem).......and my brother's tC was spared from four feet of water on the street because we happened to clean the garage on Friday, so I was getting concerned.
After all, a guy drowned not two miles from my apartment. In a soccer field. So it could have been worse!
Glad everybody's safe so far; I sure hope it stays that way!

I made it ok, I had no damage to my house. I just don't have electricity. Thank GOD that we have cool weather right now. My next door neighbors had bought about $300 worth of meat about a week before the storm so we have all been eating real good! I haven't eaten so many ribs and steaks in my whole lifetime! I don't expect power back till Monday but I hope it will be sooner.
My tC was in my garage all safe. I even washed it yesterday cuz I was bored.
