Default Texas Inspections

Hello everyone,

My inspection is due to expire next month and I am trying to find out what to do. I have 20% on the front windows and 5% on the back. I don't even know if that is illegal or not. I am getting mixed responses. Does anyone know for sure if it is legal or not? I have been pulled over twice for speeding with this tint and no ticket for it. If it is illegal any suggestions for passing? I am in the North Houston area if that helps any. Thanks guys.

Edit: I found this http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/Misc...htm#inspection. So does this mean I am able to pass inspection but it is technically illegal? I am kind of confused on this.

You're fine. Don't worry about your tint. You can tint your rear's however you want, and the fronts are fine.

^^^ agree but some cops are @$$'s an stop u for anything they dont see fit for a car... but most the time 5%tint is ok for the back but the front windows are supposed to be no less than 25% but everyone i know who has tint has 5% all around including me...

i do state inspections, and it can not be less than 20% on the front windows. you can paint everything else and it doesn't matter.

your car will pass the emissions test as long as the check engine light is off , thats all they check on the newer cars and yes i have a hook up just incase it's needed .

Here's a hint.....Depending on what time of year you have to get the inspection, just roll in with your front windows down. They won't even know how dark they are.
