Default Unbelievable....Windshield Story Continued....

Alright....shortly after I picked up the xB, I had the dreaded *pressure crack* appear from the molding on the windshield...took it to Toy Lewisville service advisor and had service manager also look at it....they all pretty much dismissed my issue as "Oops, rock hit you...." Hmmm...interesting, considering the car wasn't even MOVING at the time.....

Wasn't happy with that....took pictures and sent them to SCION corporate....they called the fine folks at SOL and another appt was made for me to come back in.....said they were going to take care of me.

Got over there today....service manager grabbed his little fine point pen (again) and told me "Nope, you had a rock hit you...this is a chip"

WTF ever, dude.....gimme an f'n break......I told him I would collect names and photos from other xB drivers with the issue and show him it wasn't isolated.....I know from my past posting, there were some others of you having similar issues....can you help a brother out?

I haven't been pulled over (yet) -- but, I am sure that will happen soon.....I'm holding on as long as I can to this fight.....grrrrrr

well if they can find a pit in your windsheild they are going to blame it on something hitting your windshield, wether you were moving or not.

Default 06 xB windshieldcrack

Mine cracked a few days ago. Started at the top, near the rear view mirror, went down a few inches, then toward driver's side eight inches or so...so far. I took it to a glass place, and they said "rock chip under the rubber moulding." I got to thinking...if they say it's a rock chip, they get a windshield replacement job ($322). If they say "stress crack," and Scion replaces it under warranty, the glass place gets nothing. I took it to the Scion dealer where I bought it (Anderson, IN), and they said "stress crack; we'll call this in to Scion, and order you a new one under warranty." We'll see how it goes, I have not yet gotten a confirmation call.

mine is cracked exactly the same way. about 1 inch to the right of the rear mirror, straight down about 4 1/2 inches and toward the drive side 8 or 9 inches.
the service rep at scion lewisville ran his ball point pen down the crack and said there is a chip in the glass. it is almost un noticeable but if i put my face against the glass i can almost see the chip. the worst part is that when driving back to work a big rock hit the glass dead center and now there is a chip the size of a dime in the glass.
every time i wash the car and the water get on the glass and cools it the crack grows another 2 inches. guess ill just drive untill the glass falls out. this is getting pretty tiresome. i am known to be very particular about my cars and this is making me crazy. now im in a ____ed off mood all the time, ............... and that is not a good thing.

Got the confirmation call this morning. The new windshield has been ordered from Toyota, and they will install it (no charge, under warranty) next week.

7/17/06: Windshield came in several days ago...haven't had time to have it installed yet. Will take a couple of photos of the crack to post here, and offer the paperwork to anyone interested.

I will see what I get in writing next week. They ordered the windshield this morning, and said it could be as late as the first part of next week to get it in and installed. He clarified that it was, in fact, under warranty, and I would not be charged anything. Maybe I will scan my paperwork, and offer to email it to anyone that can use it. I'll also try to get a photograph of the crack, since it sounds like its the same pattern that many of you are experiencing. I'll let you know.

Default New windshield under WARRANTY!!!!

Finally got the time to have the windshield replaced. Here are a few photos of the cracked glass, and copies of the invoice, showing that it was replaced under warranty. Let me know if any of you find this helpful.

The glass photos are from the outside. I used a Sharpie to make the crack bolder, so you could see it better.

Hope this worked!

Default cracked again

My windshield cracked again. This time, the same pattern, just started toward the passenger side of the mirror, and came down and across toward the driver's side the same way. I guess I'll go back to the dealer. Anyone have this happen more than once?

Default lowered?

Interesting; but mine isn't lowered. May be a good reason not to lower it.
