Default Fatal Scion Accident Severn, MD

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/loc...,7748388.story

Anne Arundel County authorities are continuing to investigate a fiery, fatal car accident that occurred Wednesday in Severn when the driver of a Toyota lost control while speeding through an intersection and crashed into a large lawn ornament and four parked cars, according to police.

A passenger in the silver 2007 two-door Toyota Scion, identified as Jamel Alexander Cross, 19, of Lanham, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4 a.m. accident that occurred near WB&A Boulevard and Queenstown Road. The driver and another passenger were listed in serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

...Investigators said the Scion spun and traveled 206 feet and into the front yard of a house in the 7600 block of WB&A Road. There, police said, the vehicle struck a large steel wagon wheel at the entrance to the driveway and then hit a Ford box truck, pushing it 25 feet. The Scion then hit a parked Nissan Pathfinder, pushing it into a Dodge Van and a Mercury Cougar.

Police said the Scion finally stopped when it was on top of the cab of the box truck, where it caught fire. The right front-seat passenger, Charleigh Marie Poulin, 21, of Odenton, was ejected from the car and taken to Shock Trauma. Police said Sweeny crawled from the car on his own and also was taken to Shock Trauma. Authorities said Cross was found dead in the back seat with his seat belt fastened
.

Wow, sorry to hear it was a fatality, and that is was the back seat passenger who had a seat belt on and wasn't directly responsible for the loss of vehicle control. Be careful who you ride with I guess.

Also, it's been almost 5 years now, can the media please recognize that the make is Scion, not the model. We only knew it was a tC because they said it was 2 door.

Yeah, they went by the registration.

Definitely sounds like it was going pretty fast to be "pushing" several cars...
