SCCA Autocross
I really should read my post before I submit. Anyway I am a long time autocrosser with an xb. Tomorrow will be the first time I have tried to run it. I have 17" wheels so I guess I will be running Street Touring S.
yup, i posted about this on the local scca board...they all thought it was crazy when i first started showin up and then once i actually started to do good. wait til they 2 of us tearin it up...whether i beat u or u beat me, we need to beat at least one of the many integras
I am in the mood to ramble. My age is going to show soon but I have been a huge sports car / sports sedan fan for a long time. I have autocrossed a 510, 3- 914's, a Pinto, a 911SC, 944 turbo, FV, Mustang GT, & a C4 Corvette and I have been pretty sucessful with many of them. So when I say I have been impressed with my xb, I see possiblies. Tomorrow we start to find out. I bought the car when gas hit the $3.00 dollar mark around here as a daily driver, but I had forgotton what it was like to drive a fun car every day. I drove my trailer haulers for years. Honest, for any body who cares, I' ll let you know how it went soon.
Well the results were finally posted the other night from the recent autocross I attended and I am pleased for the first time out with my xb not to mention my first autocross in 4 years. I placed 6th out of 14 in my class (STS) and 83rd out of 163 entries. Not bad for the smallest displacement car there. I had to run STS class which is Stock under 3 liiters with street tires. But I have 17"er's which forced me to this class instead of HS stock class. The car handles very well with stock suspension and goes where you point it with just a tiny bit of push. Stock brakes worked well and the car was quite easy to drive. I have no idea what tires might be better suited for this but I am on Yokohoma's. I will say this, the car feels very solid and I think any of you whould feel confortable racing yours. For those of you who try it, good luck.
I'm very interested in giving it a try. I know I should have done a search, but can you direct me to information for events in the area. I'm near Columbia, SC. Don't know if there is anything happening right in this area.
I've been to a few autocross events but never competed. I've wanted to try some racing for quite awhile now. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.
