Default Interior... your thoughts?

With the box back from the shop and State Farm not paying to clean the interior of the vehicle properly, I will have to gut and clean it myself. If you have not read my previous thread about what has transpired, you can view it HERE.

I figured that this is a good opportunity for me to now work on the interior. The body kit and exterior paint will have to be postponed… again due to funding and repairs. I want to make sure that the Foray (fire extinguishing chemical) is properly cleaned out. That stuff can do some serious damage when introduced to moisture or water.

The headliner will be removed, cleaned and resurfaced. The seats will be removed, cleaned and reupholstered. I will have to look for some nice Scion seat covers or go to a shop and have something custom made. The carpet if not clean enough to my liking will be replaced as well. The interior panels will be removed to clean behind them and then painted. I also figured that I could re-pull all of my audio and neon wires while the entire interior was removed.

The color scheme and interior design will be kept secret for now. I have a good idea of what I want to do. I am looking for some thoughts on how to tackle this project and do it. What kind of fabric and adhesive do I use? What type of paint and materials would work the best? I would also love any tips or trick anyone has for me. This will be the biggest project that I have and will do to my box to personalize it. This will be a personal project, which means I want to do as much as possible and still have it look good.

I will be starting on the dismantling of the interior this week. I will be spending quite some time on this in the next few weeks. More than likely will not have my interior back in or completed when we go for the 9/16 Fall cruise to Duluth.

I’d appreciate any thoughts that you may have… thanks!

I would certainly push back on the insurance company to get as much as possible from them - file a complaint and show the next adjuster the pics you have. Do they not understand that a fire extinquisher was discharged inside the car? I would think they would want it cleaned in such as way as to eliminate any residual claims.

It certainly looks to be a lot of work but I would want to make sure the chemicals are gone before installing any new audio stuff. Good Luck!

Yeah... I've been fighting with them since Thursday on this and I am not getting any closer to a solution. They know what it does and what the chemical can do, but they don’t see an immediate concern. The damages will be years down the road according to them. That may be true, but this car will be with me for years to come. Though it make change from time to time. I am just about to give up on them, clean it myself and change insurance companies. Though that will be after I get my audio gear replaced.
