Default It's winter!!... #$#%$#!!!

Nothing to be too excited (____ed off) about, it happens every year. Just comes time when we have to adjust our driving habits to deal with it.

It snowed (and rained) last night here in Fargo,ND. This morning was a wake up call, when I was almost in a 4 car pileup. I have lived in ND/MN all my life and even I forgot about the fact that there is ice on bridges. Luckily instinct kicked in for all of us and not a single car was touched (almost choreographed by the way 4 of us stopped side-by-side, bumper-to-bumper).

It’s been snowing this evening, so hopefully most of us here are prepared for the driving conditions to follow.

So has anyone else had their first snowfall for their area? And is this the first time anyone has had any of this type of weather?

Just trying to get some type of conversation going….. so how bout the weather?

Well, here in the cities we did have flurries for part of the day. Then there was the very quick blizard-like conditions (in St. Paul) that hit for about 5 mintues or so. That was enough to make me go buy the winter tires I needed to get anyways. None of the snow stuck and there isn't any ice, yet. Oh well, I'm sure the $800 in tires will come in handy this winter.

Man Fargo got hit pretty bad and pretty quick. 7 Car Pileup on Hwy Bridge, then i witnessed a trailblazer do like 3 360's then slam into a sidewall. Somehow passing cars didnt hit him....very lucky guy. Also i havent swapped my tires / wheels back to stock yet. Are the stock tires on tC pretty good in snow? Prob WAYY better than my Pirelli's lol. Those things are a godsend on asphalt with incredible grip but when it comes to the slightest patch of ice i might as well have skis on my car.

Winter just sucks for the bad driving. And the cold. And the salt. And the Terrrorism (kids throwing snowballs at my car).

PS. Streeter if that is your hair in that avatar you are a GOD!

Yea, you guys have it especially bad up there - I lived about 30 miles east of Grand Forks. YOU guys get BLACK ICE...

The stock tires are "okay" on snow/ice.

Pyro... I could only wish.

Lol, most people who love the -30 degree weather have never known anything different. Being born and raised in Louisiana this weather is %#Q#$$# ridiculous. When you have to buy a second car because its too crappy to drive your DD, thats when you know you need to move. You would think with all the bad winters people up here have been thru, most would actually know how to drive. I think i drive better than a lot of people out there that have lived here there whole life.

Salt sucks @ss. For those who don’t know, be sure to rinse that crap off at LEAST once a week (especially on the bottom side of the car). Salt + iron = rust.

CaJuN_tC_2007 – have fun going to Miami and getting away from our winter weather. Too bad you have to come back and deal with the climate change all over again. Off topic, the guy I am getting those LEDs from said he should have them in tomorrow (Friday) so I should have them sometime next week. I ordered plenty extra so we should be able to try some different combinations to adjust your gauge lights the way you wanted them.

It has also been proven that the more you wash your car in the winter around salt, it can also speed up the corrosion process!

Dried salt on the bottom of your car is fine. When salt gets wet that it becomes corrosive. If you choose to wash your car that often make sure that you get all of the salt off the frame. There are quite a few places that car washes and a pressure washer cannot get to. Don’t want to burst your bubble.

I used to wash mine all the time and when I saw some components starting to rust I freaked. Now I just shrug and think that it is inevitable.

Yeah, I guess it's a never ending battle trying to protect the bottom. At least those spots that can't be reached easily.
