My auto show experience
Me and my wife went to the Mpls/ST Paul show today
We had a great time alot of cool vehicles.
We head orer to the Scion spot ,My wife loves the tC
and is thrilled i am getting one this summer.
We went to the service counter where they had
really nice free key chains the ipod socks.
afetr snaging all the freebies i ask when the 2008
Scions are coming out. Some gal in a snippy voice says
which one?I said the tC,At this point a ___ guy jumps
in with his nasal lispy voice and says it really dont matter
Because the only difference between the 2007 and 2008
is the front and rear tail lights
At this point i proceed to tell him about the side curtain airbags
and the ipod adapter that are also going to be standard on the 08
and i think im forgetting a few other things.
He then looks at me with a puzzled sheepish look on his face
and says they will not be out till October.I had heard enough
misinformation or one day so we left the scion aera.
Ill be the first one to admit i didnt know $hit about these cars until
i joined afew sites and did research and i thank everyone for the
info. You would think Scion would have more informed people
representing them at this event.

its half and half....either they have beautiful looking people that dont know anything but the others are people that know what they are talking about....its hit or miss...at the Philadelphia Auto Show we had people that knew what they are talking about.
i was in the house at the auto show yesterday also. brad waht time were you their? i was their about 1045 and probley the same ___ dude was giving me hard looks, cuz i took 5 key chains and 3 of the ipod/cell phone holders. i will have my auto show pic updated next weekend. for those of you that did not go
Jumping in with just a little clarification here:
The Side Air Bags and iPod Audio standard for 2008 are for the next Generation xB, not the tC.
Everything I am being told says the 2008 tC will be out mid-2007, with the minor cosmetic changes on head and taillights. The 2009, due out a year from this spring, will be the "refreshed" (Read: redesigned) tC.
If someone else knows different, please set me straight on this. I agree it's all sort of confusing.
I have to tell you, working with cars and dealing with 2006 and 2007 models, I went nuts trying to figure out what year I was in for my taxes!!

This is from one of many reviews i found on the 2008 tC
Almost lost in the clutter of Scion news from last week'sChicago auto show was the introduction of the 2008 tC sport coupe, which gets cleaner styling and more standard features as it soldiers into the new model year.
Now the oldest vehicle in the Scion lineup - the xB and new xD were unveiled at the Chicago show, and go on sale in April and August, respectively - the tC adopts a new front end that more closely resembles its new teammates. Projector headlamps are a part of the deal, as are round taillamps.
Inside the tC gets a standard iPod connectivity kit that allows the audio system to control Apple's ubiquitous music player. A premium sound system is optional on the tC; its hallmark is an LCD screen that allows drivers to choose various "skins" and also plays four-second video clips downloaded from the Pioneer Web site (Pioneer makes the audio systems.)
Now standard on the tC are dual front, side, and curtain airbags. Also included are anti-lock brakes, tire pressure monitors, and a driver's knee airbag. The engine and transmissions are carried over from 2007 - a 161-hp four spins out power through a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.

kidtC,
You win! Clearly, the guy at the auto show had the same source of information that I do (Toyota bulletins) and this is news I haven't seen yet either.
I am now informed! I went looking and I found the specs for the 2008 tC , and all three models of Scion will come standard with the iPod connectivity and Side Air Bags! Sweet!
This confusion is typical when things are changing over. So much excitement--so much misinformation! For those reading this with earlier models, the ABS, driver's knee air bag, and tire pressure monitors have always been standard on the tC.
