I see them here in nyc sometimes. They are a great car when it come to parking. They are a nightmare/deathtrap on the freeway. Google, smart car with hayabusa motorcycle engine. You see the video of some people in europe who put the busa motor in the little smart car. It sound like a F1 car.

The Smart For Two for the US is going to have a different engine (Mitsubishi) and be up to US safety standards. I drove it in Oregon and thought the paddle shifters were funny. Laughed the whole time I was driving. I couldn't make it to the IKEA lot (I *did* get an invitation though!) They will be at the Stone Arch Art Festival this weekend, too, if anyone wants to see them and drive them.

Did you drive it, Joan?

Hmm...Sounds like a bit of fun. I might give it a try if I have time.

Hey Nancy, didn't you get the PM I sent you yesterday or so?

What, 61 horses isn't enough for you Streeter? :D

Yup, I got it, SecretAgentMonkey. Took me two days to get the price from my parts guy. I'll send it to you now.

Oh, alright. I'm sold. This is the way I would need to have mine though.

Fitted with a roll cage though. Here is a Smartcar beating the pants off a Ferrari:

We did go and drive them on Sunday. Stood in line (and wind) for about 45 minutes. I had never seen the Cabrio before. Gee, it's cute. It compares to the xB in that I think it would fit nicely in the back of my RS 3 with the back seats down. That, and it has deceptively large space for being as tiny as it is. The video of the Smart racing the Ferrari on YouTube was great, Streeter! Picture a roller skate popping a wheelie... The red is actually a little orange. The blue is great. I am so torn....

Well, as far as I'm concerned, it's my next car. I figure in four years my boy will adopt the Xa, and I'll go a Smart. They are quirky and just plain fun!
