First 2008 xB in the Pittsburgh area?
Just talked to my dealer, DAY Scion in West Mifflin. Their first 2008 is going to be a Blackberry Crush Automatic, but I reserved a Black Sand Pearl Manual in late April. I hadn't heard anything back, so I called them today and asked. They said the preference didn't go through yet, and if it went through in the next allocation, I was looking at a mid-June delivery. Needless to say, I was a bit upset.
Well, they just called me back again, and ended up trading the Blackberry for exactly what I wanted from some other dealer. As such, my car will be in on the 22nd-24th!!
Unfortunately, the trade means 150-200 miles will be on the car, and I am not so psyced about that...but they said they will give me some floor/cargo mats or oil changes to make it up. I would still rather have something with less than 10 on it...
Anyway, is anyone else in the Pittsburgh area going to have one around then?

I would love that, but I think it would cost too much. Even if the dealer had a flatbed truck at their disposal, which they don't, the gas alone would cost oodles. Loaded flatbeds don't do so well.
Hiring one would probably cost $300-$500 for there and back.

I had 124 on my tC when I got it... it was a trade from a dealership in Cleveland... not a big deal. It was a 124 miles in the grand scheme of things. I have 45k on it now...
Secondly, to the person who said they should tow it on a flatbed, this is a Scion, not a luxury vehicle. They won't even put a Toyota on a flatbed to travel from dealership to dealership.
Just my two cents...

There are three reasons I am concerned.
1. It is a stick. Although I am sure their driver knows how to drive one, these are the first miles of its life, and poor treatment can REALLY impact its longevity.
2. Scion recommends taking it easy, and varying engine RPM for the first 1000 miles. I believe the driver will be responsible, but it will be pretty tough to vary engine RPM on the highway.
3. I intend to get a clear bra right away, and after 200 miles on the highway, the car might get a stone chip. It would be a shame to get some chips and then bra over them.
These are just minor concerns, and I am sure everything will be fine. I am just nervous because this is my first new car ever.
