NJ area LED swaps
wow...thats funny. Was just gonna make a post asking for help. I know how to solder, but I can't keep a steady hand (damn carpal tunnel). I'd defeintely love your help man, I live in Morris Plains. PM me, we cna talk.
Had an interesting conversation with my 4 year old daughter this morning regarding you
Me: Sara, did you like our visitor Mike last night?
Sara: Yeah, he was pretty.
lol!

Yah, he came on the same day.... I used some 1/4W RS ones I picked up recently, not as wonkin' as the 1/2W ones I had in my earlier PCB.
And yeah, I've found that using wrapping wire to retrace works better. Less cutting to do when you have to clear said resistors. Just make the wrapping wire tight against the PCB (or hot glue it if you create any slack, I opted to just make the traces tight - always better to do so).
What wattage resistors do you guys get? 1/8ths? 1/16ths I would imagine are MAD tiny...

I have pics done of mine in white: http://www.weckstrom.com/scion/dash.jpg
I did another one today, I was going to take pics of his (in blue) but it's still light out and I doubt he'll want to stick around for a few more hours before it gets dark. Next one I do i'll make sure I get some pics.
If you decide to get it done, let me know. Just make sure you set aside about 3-4 hours of time. But don't worry, my daughter will keep you company

Impossible to say, I've never seen surface mount LED's go bad... The LED's are being lit well within their tolerances (they aren't being overpowered or anything). They should last as long as any other Surfacemount LED, including the ones that are there from the factory.
I ordered another 100 red and blue LED's for the weekend. I have enough still for one blue and one white complete swap if anyone wants one during the week. Blue seems to be the popular color, so I plan on stocking 'em continuously.
