Default question about new plates from dealer(mass.)

So, I finally got my tc this May and got new plates from the dealer and I noticed that the plate has Oct. in the upper left corner.

Why does it have October? Shouldn't it be the month that the car is registered in?

Interesting. Should be, but the overriding factor is what's on your registration. I registered mine in May, my plates say April, I guess that's what they had in the dealership.

I found out that when you get a new license plate/registration, it is good for atleast one year. Could be longer, but never less. When you renew it, then it is good for two years. It just so happened that they had October plates at the DMV, so that is what I got.
