It's made to work with a stock suspension.
That stock suspension is designed to meet certain needs - elevate the car to proper bumper height to prevent being mown down by soccermoms in SUVs, prevent idiots from bottoming out on curbs and speedbumps, provide sufficient bump insulation for those NYC potholes, etc.
An aftermarket suspension setup, while not some fancypants automatically adjusting magnetic setup, has no regard for those issues I mentioned above. By lowering the car, within reason, it will lower the CG and roll center and improve handling, raise the spring rates which will reduce body roll, and probably provide more adjustment than the magnetic dampers could ever do by themselves.
The pictures we're seeing of the MKVI are showing the euro-market version as well.
the US version will probably sit another inch or 1.5" higher.
but with the magnetic adjustment stuff the whole idea is to reduce body roll. (which the mk5 has plenty of) if your going for an all out handling performance, i think you get some thick sway bars front and back and call it a day. im not sure a lowered ride height would help at all.
and if you take out the magnetic set up...why bother getting the mk6, thats really the only significant update. it will be interesting to see what the aftermarket come sup with. im sure most in the euro crowd are going to ____ their pants because they cant lay the car on its oil pan.
and im guessing the Euro-spec set up is ideal. once it gets over here i suspect it will be .5-1 in higher like the current car. but who knows...maybe...just maybe vw will surprise everyone and make the cars identical......haha...yea. right

We shall see.
We shall see.
i think ill be more interested in the MK7 once Porsche has really dug in and got there hands dirty with production/development
