haha, thanks for the reminder that I"m gonna be broke! I'm experiencing that now withOUT any kid(s). hahaha

Yes, Kerri planned on using my car once the baby is born. That means I get her 99 Cougar. But I'll convince her to get her own box eventually.

Seriously, thanks for all the support. I'll need it! haha
I quit in 1982 long before any over the counter aids were available. I knew the addiction was strong (Camel no filters and a pack+ per day) so I laid out a 6 month plan to gradually step down the Nicotine levels in my system Here's how I did it:

1 )First switch was to Camel with filter for a few weeks plus less cigs per day. I only lit up when my body said I HAD to. No pleasure smoking.

2) Switched to Marlboro as it had less nicotine for a month. Each week reducing the number of smokes. From this point forward I smoked when I HAD to but I skipped one of those MUST-HAVE cigs. Then Another etc. Did this weekly to reduce number of cigs.

3) Switched to Marlboro Lights 100's, bigger cig but overall less nicotine for about a month

4) Dropped down to Marlboro lights reg size for about another month

5) Having difficulty with satisfying the craving I switched to Salem lights Menthol to make things interesting again. Did this for a month

6) Swithed to Salem ULTRA-Lights 100's for two weeks

7) Switched to Salem ULTRA-Lights regular size for 2 weeks

8. Switched to Carlton lights 100's (like sucking only air) for a week

9) Switched to Carlton lights reg size for a few weeks

10) Success, just a little over 6 months but I did it on my own. I threw out the last pack and was done with it.

I STILL had 2 weeks of withdrawal symptoms. Everytime I needed a cigarrette I stuck an empty bottle of Krazy Glue between my fingers. That helped pshycologically with the habit-induced sensory needs. I was smoke free from there on but then had to deal with packing on 30lbs, but it was well worth it.

BTW.... one reason for quitting was the cigarrettes were getting too expensive at .99 per pack!! (true!)

Good luck Den!

Yup, I do. And if 7 bucks per pack isn't incentive enough to quit I don't know what is :-)

Just an update on the quitting...

I went to the doc today to talk to him about quitting, and he ended up prescribing me "Welbutrin XL". So, hopefully in 3 weeks I'll be done smoking. We'll see...

Don't bet on it, wait until the first time you bite into a piece of soft smooth creamy cheesecake with fresh strawberries on top whose flavor is not masked by a thin vail of cig and nicotine taste. WOW!!!! LOL

>>> Ok I'm hungry...off to the fridge !
