alright amy, as of right now i see no problem making it to the meet in november. that is if you have one. my car still isn't tuned and probably wont be till spring. i did get the exhaust done.

so far i have no plans for the last weekend of november and by that time drag strips will be closing so that wont keep me from going either.

i will be going to mason dixon dragstrip this saturday (11-3-06) to run for test and tune. if any one would like to join me feel free. i just want to get some type of base run out of my car.

well let me know if you are having one or not. later.

Our car club meets there every Saturday (and have recently expanded to include all makes and models of vehicles), except for when it's doing the "s" word outside ;)

So if anyone either wants to join a local club (you're more than welcome) or just come to hang out, we're always there.

At this exact moment, Sinister J's. (We started off as a J-body Club). Right now there's a good bit of J-bodies, but we also have gained:

my 2006 tC
2000 VW Golf
a Kia
2006 Hyndai Tiburon
1996 Mustang GT
2001 Ford Zx2

We were thinkin about changing the name, but we wanted to wait to get some "other" cars and stuff in to have them be part of the name changing if they would like the name to be changed. We've been around for about 4 years as a club, so we're not going anywhere. We just did a major overhaul and reorganization of the entire club. We used to have 3 large company sponsors:

Andy's Autosport (we dropped them, they were hard as heck to get ahold of and weren't following up on their end of the sponsorship)
RSM Racing (went out of business, owners had issues within the company)
HighRev Motorsports (got screwed over by another HUGE unnamed company, which affected their customers getting parts, they got tired of it and closed up shop after taking care of their obligations... I know the owners, they're my brother in law's best friends)

We still have 2 local sponsors, but we're wanting new people with new ideas and enthusiasm to get the big sponsors we used to have. We have awesome events co-ordinators now, so we're well on our way!

Any other questions feel free to PM me or whatnot!

That's just ignorant dude...

I said we HAD 3 large company sponsors for one. One was dropped, the other 2 shut down ages ago, and no they didn't strictly deal with J-bodies, they dealt with everything.

Also, not too many clubs have made it near the 4 YEAR mark, whereas we have.

Thirdly, if you're so closed minded that you only assosciate yourself with people who drive the same car as you, that's totally shallow. It's about the hobby itself and the people, not what kind of car you drive. Personally, I'd rather be part of something that has awesome people who are into the hobby, than limit myself to associating with people who only have one kind of car.

If that's your cup of tea fine, but you don't have to be an ignorant jackarse about it... especially when I hear you're thinking of rooming with Matt and Jason (I think that's his name... lives in Highspire?)... Matt has a J-body...

wow. this went straight to flame war. i'm not close minded. i admit. the tc is a slow car with potential. i couldn't care what someone drove. i'd think that a car club would atleast stick to a theme. or a cliche... like social circles. i dont see goth people hanging out with the football team or nothing.... i mean... if it's a import... it's a import... i sell imports... so imports... then we go from german... to japanese... to... whoever and whatever... i mean... a j-body crew... in york... i mean come on... i saw the cars first hand... and they aren't that great... you could roll into denny's rolling 5 deep... all stock scion tc's... it would be much nicer than the cavs sunfires, neons whatever i saw. kits dont fit. all slow... crap paint jobs. looks like a cokehead in a methlab tried to spray paint that.... and if you want to get technical... the whole cars value... you could go for what it's worth... or kbb... i mean... if you have a new m3.. i'm sure you wouldnt want to be in some car club with a handful of civics... unless those civics really stick out... and are out of the ordinary... whole different caliber.... and 4 year mark? anyone can hit the 4 year mark... even my paintball team has made the 7 year mark.... yeah i got out 4 years ago.. but they are going strong... it's pretty much the same. i'd rather drive a tc... then be a broke baller. yes, you said 3 companies... keyword had... that's past tense. go find a worthy sponsor... not gonna happen. i mean that club must be dying out to start recruiting other cars. i mean at one point i'm sure your club was close minded too... people want quality... not age... and seeing that they say wine gets better with age... not that club... i was trying to be nice. and this is a scion forum. not jbodies anon.

Ahhh but see... I didn't turn this into a flame war. You've still failed to see the point, and you can't compare apples to oranges.

CAR CLUBS, rarely make it past the 6 month point because of drama. I've been in 3 car clubs before this one, all have ended at some point due to drama. First one ended after about a year, second one about the same, third made it about 2 official years.

Your preference may be to stick to the same type of car and that's fine. But you decided you were going to take it a step farther and attack/bash the club I've been President of for almost 4 years, which wasn't necessary. It's not your cup of tea fine... but you didn't have to cross that line and make ignorant comments.

A TRUE car enthusiast knows it's not just about what KIND of car you drive, but it's about people getting together who share the same hobby, no matter what it is. Does a car make the person, or does the person make the car?

Yeah, some of the cars in our club arn't the fanciest... but the people we have are totally awesome. Are all the cars slow? No, we have 2 supercharged cavs, one with nitrous, and a turbo Sunfire, a twin turbo stealth. Our members range from 17 to 35. We're there to help and guide each other.

Dunno if you remember or not, but that orange/black turbo sunfire that was there that one weekend? When he first joined the club, it was red with bling bling chrome trim, icky wheels... etc. We all watched that car grow to where it is today, and the mounds of trophies it's won in the process. Matt's Supercharged Cav... has won countless stereo comp trophies. There are nice cars we have that haven't been there to the meets. (The Neons btw, don't belong to us)

Also not to mention the fact that we have been meeting at Denny's for almost 4 years and they were all open minded enough to not have any problem whatsoever in sharing our meeting place with a bunch of Scions once a month. Yeah we started out just being j-bodies, but we decided it's time to grow. Someone inquired about our club, I told them briefly what we're all about, you chime in and bash us. If he wanted to be part of a club that's only Scions and wasn't interested, fine. Sure, some of our cars are also fairly stock or are a work in progress. It's about the hobby. It's about being a team and working together and helping each other out. Helping guide one another in a good direction. A lot of the "fancier" cars don't come out of the garage often.

The point is, our club opened our arms to Scions to have a place to meet once a month (or whatever) that they wouldn't get chased out of every weekend... and you felt you just had to open your mouth and belittle my club and metaphorically stomp on our hospitality. How would you feel if someone walked into your home and bad mouthed your family? Not cool man... not cool at all. If you don't want to share our "home" and can find another place in York where you won't get chased out by cops so you don't have to look at the "terrible POS J-bodies", be my guest and good luck finding a place where you WON'T get kicked out.

crazyedie, I'm sorry it turned into this, but as President of our club I can't sit here and let someone bash the club just because the cars arn't "what he likes". As I said before, we opened up our arms and "home" so some Scions had a place to meet where they didn't have to worry about cops chasing them out all the time, and this is the thanks we get. We're good people, you're more than welcome to come check us out anytime that's up to you.

ZOMG are you SERIOUS? Here all this time I thought we owned the place /sarcasm

That's not the point. We invited the Scions to meet there, because someone mentioned every other place they go they get kicked out of. The manager of Denny's will go "yell" at the cops if they try to kick us out, because they know we respect them, and we're not one of the clubs that go there who are out causing trouble. Hence, the invite was from us, so you guys wouldn't have to worry about getting kicked out... not an invite because we own the place smart a$$. Since it appears I have to spell everything out for you, try this:

example: Cops want to kick out the Scions. I go talk to the manager and say "hey, they're with us this weekend"... odds are Scions get to stay since they're "with us" that weekend. Or:

example2: Cops want to kick out the Scions. I say "they're certainly not with us"... odds are, Scions have to leave if the Cops want them out.

THAT is what I meant.

Point... just because YOU don't like something, doesn't mean you have the right to be an a$$ about it. Stop being an a$$, and we'll get along just fine.
