Ha, I work in Ephrata and don't get home until 6pm, so normally I'm not in Manheim during the day - although today I came home around 12:30 - 1:00 over my lunch hour to pick up a few things I forgot in the morning, so I was driving around town for a little then... If you were driving up Main St (Rt 72) through Manheim, right at the north edge of town are a Gulf and Sunoco gas station on opposite sides of the street, my house is only two blocks from there...!

And you meant Viola stuff, right?

I saw a black xD over in Lititz about a month ago, wonder if that was the same one - actually, that was only the third xD I've seen anywhere in Lancaster County since I bought mine in April...

Sure, a photo shoot sounds good sometime, Sonya - seeing as how you can never make it to a York Meet to take some photots there...!

Hey, just yesterday I saw only the 4th xD in Lancaster County since I got mine - it was a stock red one, going south on Main Street in Manheim on Saturday afternoon, I think a man was driving it, I almost missed it so I had to look quick, no time to wave or anything... and I almost ran over the curb swerving because I was trying to look over my shoulder to get a better look, lol! I was so excited to see another xD, so rare around here...

SO, the barbecue is this Saturday, and we've only got 4 people signed up so far - and some hotdogs, lol... Now I see there's some rain in the forcast for Friday and Saturday... Boo Hiss!

So where is everybody? Is this not going to happen, or what?

Hey, If it rains, we always have the Frey Theater as an indoor entertainment option, heheh... only about 20 minutes from Sam Lewis...
FEEL THE POWER!!!

When: Sept. 27th, 2008

Place: Sam Lewis State Park
6000 Mt Pisgah Rd
York, Pa 17406

Time: 2:00pm

Roll Call
1. Amy (if car is fixed) I'll bring the wienahs and buns WITH condiments and organic spicy homegrown jalapenos ;)
2. Carolyn (she'll buy the weinah buns lol)
3. Shawn Taco salad. charcoal
4. Troyster - Cheese Tray, (including sliced american for burgers or dogs).
5. AMP - fruit or veggie tray
6. Ray - chips n salsa

I've been on vacation so sort of out of the loop. I'm pretty sure I can drag Ray along unless he's got plans. I'll double check.

Are we doing burgers too? If so I can bring lettuce/onion/tomato/etc and I'll make Ray bring hamburger. Would anyone want chili and chopped onions for their dogs? I'll be more than glad to change what we're bringing!

I've only been to sam lewis once a year or 2 ago. do they have any covered picnic areas or should I bring my 10x10 canopy incase of rain? A friend found out for me the hard way that it will leak a little in constant rain but it's better than nothing.

Eddie, you should call when you leave work and see if we're still there! I'm sure there will be some left overs!

There is a pavilion there but don't know if you need to reserve it or not. Most times i go up there i haven't seen anyone using it. So if it rains we should be good.. I only live down the hill from there so if need be i can get my 8x8 also.

^sounds good.

BTW Troy, I did watch BG and liked it very much. Now Ray and I need to see the rest of the series. Thanks. Thanks a lot. I had lots of things to comment on about the pilot but have since forgotten it over my vacation. I'll watch it again this week (if I can pull myself away from my new wii) so we can have serious discussion regarding the plot, twists, continuity issues, etc. ;)

I didn't get to back to the scifi museum while I was out west so I settled for the air and space museum. I loved the space museum.

I knew the little scanning cylon bar made me think of more than just night rider and other shows that were in color lol... I rewatched The Day the Earth Stood Still (what with my outrage of keanu reeves in the remake and all) and I had forgotten that Gort's visor did the same thing. Did you get your scanner installed?

OK AMP, Don't fret about seeing the rest of the BSG series, I have copies of the first two seasons on DVD I burned from the on-air broadcasts (without commercials!), you can borrow them, I had planned to bring a bunch to the Meet on Saturday for you... I have the actual box sets for those two seasons, but those originals stay in my theater, I don't loan them out!...

No, I did not get my scanner installed yet, was going to do that this past weekend, but I majorly cleaned out my garage instead, so I can get my car inside now... WooHoo!

SATURDAY: looks like some rain in the morning, but the afternoon should be OK for our picnic, hopefully... We definitely need some Hamburgers for the picnic, I guess I will skip the Cheese Tray and bring some burgers and just american cheese instead, let me know... Whoever is bringing hotdog rolls should bring hamburger rolls too... I would plan to spend about $10 for burgers and cheese, so I suppose an $8-$10 guideline per person for picnic supplies would be about right... Drinks, don't forget some beverages, somebody, not on the list yet...

Have we confirmed there are grills there to use, or is someone bringing one? I have an old tabletop gas one I used for camping, but it hasn't been run for about 8 years, don't know if it even works...

Trying to coordinate everyone a little:

Roll Call
1. Amy (if car is fixed) I'll bring the wienahs and buns WITH condiments and organic spicy homegrown jalapenos ;) Mmmm, Jalapenos!!
2. Carolyn (she'll buy the weinah buns lol) AND HAMBURGER BUNS?
3. Shawn Taco salad. charcoal
4. Troyster - Hamburgers, sliced american cheese
5. AMP - fruit or veggie tray
6. Ray - chips n salsa
7. Anthony- BRING DRINKS - SODA, ICE TEA, FROZEN DAQUIRIS, PRUNE JUICE, etc... (!)

That would be great Troy! thanks! I completely understand not loaning out DVDs! I'm the same way. I'm also from the belief that if it was aired on TV, anyone could've recorded it so it's free to share. That's probably from my long history of trading MST tapes. MSTies are good about trading copies of episodes UNTIL they become available for purchase.

OK, back to topic...
I assume there's a grill there but we've got a tiny weber we can bring too. It's not like there's a million of us so we shouldn't need to cook toooooo much! anyone know how to grill corn on the cob?

OK, so here's what's left that we might need:
Burger toppings (onion, lettuce, tomato)?
Hot dog relish
utensils, plates, napkins, cups

anything else? Please feel free to replace Ray and I's stuff with other more important goodies! But chips and salsa from El Serrano or Chilis is just always sooooo yummy!

Mmmm...El Serranos... ahhhh!

(imagine Snuffles from Quickdraw McGraw here - if you're old enough, that is, lol!...!)

gee, I love (real) Mexican food, (and Peruvian, in the case of El Serranos) and I like it REAL hot - paint peeling, woohoo!

Now you're making me hungry...BUT that's OK, because the Ephrata Fair starts today, so all we have to do is walk out the front door of our office every day this week, and all the Fair food stands are 20 feet in front of us, lined up right down the Main street, for three blocks, pant pant...

Mmmm, Finks French Fries, Funnel Cakes, Hess's Barbecue, Toasted Cheeseburgers, Fried Zucchini, Smoked Turkey Legs, Oyster sandwiches, Hot Italian Sausage, Ice Cream Waffles, Egg Rolls, Cotton Candy, Caramel Apples, etc...etc...etc... (Hope I'm not rubbing this in TOO much, guys...!)

Heck, our picnic on Saturday will be a drop in the pan after a week of fair food, i'm afraid to say...! But, that's just the food part, we still have all that good fun and cameraderie, right?? (good save, eh?!)

I don't know about the mini-donuts, but they DO have Monkey Bread, whatever the hell THAT is..oh, and Dippin Dots, and Gyros, and Fried Oreos (yak!)....

Wow, the fair-food prices add up quick!... just got back from my fair-lunch, I had a Hess's Barbecue spare-rib sandwich ($5), a small order of Fried Zucchini ($4.50) and a Funnel Cake ($4.00), plus a coke out of the vending machine in our lunchroom ($.40), so my lunch cost me all but $14 today.... Tomorrow will be a smoked turkey-leg day, I think, along with Fink's French Fries with old bay seasoning... and maybe an Ice cream waffle for dessert...!

^hardy har har. you'd probably just leave me the holes from the regular donuts which equals NOTHING. seriously people... I've only had mini donuts twice and it was over 10 years ago. I suddenly wanted them and have been craving them all summer. Maybe I just like the crazy mechanical nature of the donut cooking contraption. lol

Hi Mark! welcome to the board of the bored. I'm glad you can make it saturday, and not just because you'll bring the essential tools for dining! Can't wait to see the RS1 in person. Noone will make fun of your plastic wheel covers! We were all stock once. Besides, it's an RS! :D 2 RSs will be there and they're both on steelies. heehee.

Speaking of wheel covers, we can always use mine as frisbees if we need something to do.
