what you should of done is fought for a rental.... even if you paid it yourself up front and get reimbursed when you got it back. being too late for that...
Weymouth has courtesy rentals as well. Warranty jobs are the same as other jobs.. they jus bill corp instead of you... everything has allotted time for what they can bill for a job. Today's date and Sept 4th is a huge different.. Why do they know it will take that long? Weymouth should give you a rental now for not meeting deadlines.
They fought to get your car done.. which is really commendable, it's really hard to fight corporate as many of us know. As a dealership, you still have to meet deadlines. It's a simple business practice.
You missed a whole car show season. You are one of our most visable members. You still attended some events to support and I appreciate that, but now you have to look out for yourself.

carlos it doesnt because technically the SC is an after market unit and isnt manufactured into the car. if the car came stock supercharged then yes it would be as long as it was int he first year or 15k miles (iirc)
as for your situation G, i would fight for a rental, you wont get compensated but a rental from Yota corp would be better then nothin.
i took my car because i couldnt wait anymore, nothing agaist the dealer but i just couldnt wait anymore, my car is at my school and its already been started on im going to get pics of my parts monday and get them tuesday (the parts) and have my car back Wed. in time to install my brakes, lip kit, (maybe exhaust and recaros) and have my buddy come pick up my hatch.
if i left it at the dealer, i honestly dont know how long it would take.
but look at the bright side come Sep 4th you'll have a new car haha

first of all, what everyone needs to understand is that the service department as a whole including techs like miguel, managers, people like gene, then mike hankes along with the regional corp (pete lebish got involved too, who was the former regional manager) all bent over backwards and literally took it in the a$$ to get all this done for you G. it took a lot of effort on their ends, and i know it hurt you cuz u were without a car, but if it wasnt for the collective effort of the tufankjian dealership youd still be car-less and it wouldnt be getting fixed at all. need to think of all that, it wasnt easy for anyone. i dont say this because i have a lot of respect for the dealership, but i say it because thats the point everyone seems to be missing when it comes to this situation. true, it really does suck for you and we ALL feel for you G, you know i do, but at the same time you need to consider yourself lucky. asking for anything more at this point is pretty much like burning a bridge with a dealership and region that has helped you out more than anyone else ever before.
i think you shouldve been given a rental which theyre working on now finally, but even then, its not easy for them just to be like hey take this car when they 1) dont have any cars to give since the few they had were gone the entire time and 2) theres laws now which dont let you just drive around in a dealer plate (trust me ive tried too, ive always asked to have a car for a few days when mike has had my car in the showroom for the commercial shoots and for the opening and whatnot). its just not as easy as it sounds
bottom line - its so easy for us to just be like yeah they shouldve done this they shouldve done that, but ultimately nothing was easy and youll have a new car pretty much when its all said and done. woburn f'd up, so if anyone is to be blamed i guess its them, but were more mature than that so we can just be glad that your car will be back on the road again. missed you at all the shows and events G, youre one of the biggest core members on the team, and everyone asked about you and your car so you not only have everyones support out here, but even in other regions too. k so that was my 2 cents, a bit long but necessary haha

salik i thank you for your imput
and everyone else that's chimed in, i just needed a little feedback on the whole situation cause i was a bit bothered with it
and i respect everyone at tufanjian scion and i trust everyone there
so it's mainly the reason why i haven't gone after anything
but thank you for the input

reguardless imo TOYOTA (not the dealer) should have provided a rental
yes the dealership did all they could and they did a lot and should be happy about that, but TOYOTA should have provided a rental

im not done yet... i think it sucks that the dealership is getting a bad rep because of this. the dealership has NOTHING to do with the time frame G's car has to be done, it was done as fast as possible with miguel working extra hours on weeknights and weekends, he had to cancel so many plans (trust me i know i was there) and he had to rebuild an entire motor, nobody can do that in a week. its not the dealerships fault that it takes that long to get parts in, and its not their fault it took toyota corp a little while to get involved. i think its garbage that we are giving the tufankjian dealership a bad rep, they have bent over backwards for all of us and collectively as a whole since day 1, they have been a far better sponsor than clair or any dealership that sponsors a car club. G i know you have respect for them, but now look at how they seem like theyre on the hook for helping you. even davedave, davedave always says its nothing against the dealership, theyre just so damn backed up cuz of G's car and other cars in there, lets not forget that they are a dealership after all and have to cater to their CUSTOMERS too.
this is ridiculous, this couldve been talked about person to person instead of posting about it, i dont say this because i rep them at shows just like you all do, or that i chose to have their logo displayed on my car, i say it in principle because i feel that the dealership does everything they can to help all of us out when no other dealership would. its not fair to say they shouldve done this or that, they would have if they could. its a dead issue now, the car will be fixed soon and we will never seem to recognize all the people behind solving this problem, but instead it seems like we will continue to talk about what went wrong.

How I see it, George put his put his issue out there and asked for input. We are all doing so. No one blamed the dealer. for me... I simply asked the reason they thought it was suppose to be done by now, then now pushed for a date so far ahead. I honestly can't stand when someone say they will meet a deadline and not make it and perhaps there would be good reason, thus the question... why do they know it won't be done until then. Dealer provide rental programs, it's very common like NORMAL customers, so that was the option I brought up. There is not extra catering for that.
George needed a little therapy, so he vented. No big deal.

youre all putting in input which is awesome, but nobody is realizing whats been going on here. i know because ive been there every day with G, ive talked to the techs and the managers and mike and even the tufankjians about it. its only fair that both sides of the story be told. its not understandable to be upset with the dealership about something that theyve been working on for the past 3 months. think they like keeping georges car there and seeing him suffer without a rental or anything? no. they cant hand out rentals, corp needs to step in and do something about that. take it to them, dont give the dealership any more heat than they need right now. ridiculous.
another thing -theres absolutely no need for this to get national attention now by posting it on scionlife, as its not really fair to people who know nothing underneath this all to read this about the dealership/whats going on with one of our members cars and stuff. everyone here already knows, and weve all talked about it numerous times. im not gonna say anything about it anymore, this has ____ed me off enough

let me make a couple things clear
1. that post was not meant to bash the dealership in anyway
2. i know it's not the dealership's fault i clearly state that
3. i have respect for everyone over at the dealership, there are a lot of things that were put on the line and im glad everyone there has respect for me as well to put their jobs out there for me
so i want to thank the dealership if anything for all the time and effort they are putting in for my car
so i want to clarify myself that THIS IS NOT THE DEALERSHIPS FAULT
I RIGHT NOW HAVE A RENTAL AND THE DEALERSHIP IS TAKING CARE OF ME
4. the post was just to get feedback on what people would've done in my shoes at the time

RECAP COURTESY OF CORNWALACE
RECAP
If I missed a few parts, feel free to correct me anyone.
Here at TampaRacing.com, something pretty interesting/epic has happened that has actually already been aired on at least one syndicated morning show. Local shop owners, Aaron and Brandon, have been scammed $16,000 worth of parts, material and labor during its stay at their shop (called JapWorks). The project took about 4 1/2 months, and the vehicle was a 2004 Toyota Celica that was expected to bring the fledgling business some needed income. Unfortunately, the person thought to be the owner of the vehicle had no intention of paying the $16,000 worth of car work.
Mr Joe Dono (20 years old) had provided some parts over the course of the makeover of the vehicle, giving the impression to the shop owners that there was a possibility of payment (against their better judgement). He had also assured the shop over and over again about how his grandfather was picking up the bill in full, and that it was a present for him for college. Since there was money fronted for some of the paint job, the shop owners continued forging ahead. Mr Dono claimed that the grandfather was very adament about being "old school" and wanted the work done before paying a dime. Mr Dono was reminded repeatedly that because of the situation, the owners would have to take further risk, and invest in the project from their own bank account. Mr Dono had even posted in the forum where this incident was brought to light, about how he was waiting on the vehicle to be finished. When it was finally finished two days ago, Mr Dono had informed the shop owners that he had not signed any contract indicating that he needed to pay that amount. What happened next has spun this thread into the epic proportions that it is delivering.
When he had sent his mother to retrieve the vehicle, she was under the impression that he had paid for materials and that he had "sponsors" that were paying them to do the labor. She wanted to know why the car was taking so long because Joe had told her it was just simply getting painted. When the mother was unable to retrieve the Celica, he had sent his girlfriend over, and attempted to give a $60 down payment for the work, as well as pay off the $16,000 worth of work in installments. After that did not work, Mr Dono requested the shop owners to just leave the car outside overnight, making sure it was washed and etc.
The shop owners were/are not having any of that. As of right now, the vehicle has been towed to an alternate location to protect any theft or destruction of the countless hours that were put into fixing the vehicle up. Mr Dono still frequented the forum less than 30 minutes ago, promising that he is going to get his vehicle, (without having to pay) by the end of the week. "Mark his wurdz"
After further discussions with Mr Dono in here, it was learned that the vehicle was financed by his mother, and not actually owned by the man that does not want to pay. Things seem to still be escalating.
Yesterday, Mr Dono had come in to the shop with police officers to retrieve the vehicle without paying for it. After the owners had the Florida State Attorney speak with the officer, the officer then informed Mr Dono that he shop owners were allowed to hold onto the vehicle since the work put into it had not been paid. Mr Dono came back several times threatening the owners that they are going to get arrested for keeping his vehicle, all with the same result - no Celica.
As of right now, the shop owner is waiting on his mechanic's lien to come through, but, with the vehicle still being financed, there is a likelihood that the job will be paid for by the financing company. Until the financing company pursue's this issue, the owners of the shop are currently at a risk of having their shop closed, due to the investment that was expected to come through. This is still an ongoing issue. The publicity that this seems to have spread worldwide, bringing together a large online community that was quite unexpected. This incident is becoming an internet phenomenon, only because this is not the first time Mr Dono has tried to scam someone.
When word of this attempt to scam JapWorks got out, several people from the community recognized Mr. Dono as the perpetrator of prior scams -- for example, taking payment on auctioned items without ever sending them and editing pictures, stealing the copyright that is legitimately their own among other things. It became obvious very soon that this is not the first time Mr Dono has scammed people. Apparently, he is a known scammer on many different forums for several other things he has stolen from those members.
Right now, there is a paypal open to donate, allowing the shop owners to re-coup their loss. All the information will be provided in the next few posts. Mr Dono continues to post, informing us that "mark his words" he'll get his Celica by friday. We'll see what happens.
I have been working on Joe Dono's car for approximately 4 1/2 months.
The car was completely redone. Complete repaint including engine bay and pulling all glass and seals, smoothing out the interior panels and two toning them, building a custom sub enclosure and covering it in carbon fiber, custom amp racks and nitrous bottle brackets, carbon overlays on the roof and hatch, turbo install, e-manage install, custom fiberglass center console to mount gauges in, just a lot of work in general.
He showed up to pick his car up yesterday, Saturday August 9th, and was apparently planning on stealing his car without paying for anything.
His mother, who actually is the one financing his car, was under the impression that he had paid for materials and that he had "sponsors" that were paying us to do the labor. She wanted to know why the car was taking so long because Joe had told her it was just getting painted. He barely covered material cost and was promising to bring the very large balance in cash when the car was picked up.
I'm really not sure what was going through his head thinking he was going to get the car completely modified and knowing he has NO money to pay for it.
His girlfriend offered us $60 and wanted to know if we could set-up a payment plan. SERIOUSLY? His bill is close to $16K and he wants a payment plan.
I'm sure plenty of you have either dealt with him or heard about him. He's a detailer by trade but apparently he has no self-worth and has no problem lying and deceiving anyone and everyone.
Please feel free to chime in. His car will be for sale shortly, just need to wait on that mechanic's lien to go through
