ack154 in CA! Leaving Saturday
EDIT: If you haven't been following along... here are the chronicles of my journey so far:
Day 1: http://bit.ly/983ABj
Day 2: http://bit.ly/ckRBS1
Day 3: http://bit.ly/aBpwfn
Day 4: http://bit.ly/aWc2vf
Day 5: http://bit.ly/aFkELj
Day 6: http://bit.ly/c6Symi
/EDIT
Work is sending me to Union City for a week.
Will be arriving some time Sunday 3/21 and leaving morning of Saturday 3/27. Travel plans not made yet b/c I just found out today. So no times yet.
So what's there to do in CA? I would imagine I'm going to have some free evenings for dinner or something... and I will have a rental to get around in. Who wants to make an east coast guy feel welcome?
I've honestly never been west of Oklahoma (and was only there once, and it sucked). So this will be totally new to me.

For sure... tentative times are the following:
Arriving OAK at 3:33pm on Sunday, 3/21
Departing OAK (or San Fran, not sure yet) at 11:15am on Saturday, 3/27
Still not sure where I'm staying... the guy going the week before me is staying at the Crowne Plaza in Union City. I'll likely end up with the same. Administrative Assistants are awesome.

OK, looks like the above is correct. Will get in around 3:30 on Sunday and leaving 11:15 the following Saturday. Will be staying at that Hilton Garden Inn...
EDIT: Corrected hotel. Apparently the Crowne sucks.

Nice! I have to say there's not too much in Union City, you might want to goto Oakland or San Jose for some better tourism stuff LOL. But thinking of setting up a meet somewhere in Union City first?

Go to San Francisco. It's a beautiful city. I doubt you'll have much free time though. It looks like your company isn't giving you much time to play tourist. If you're in Union City, there's not too much tourist stuff in easy reach. If you want to hang out with Scion people, on Wed folks in the area have a meet in San Jose (which is kind of hard to get to during rush hour from Union City). On Fridays, there's a meet in Daly City - across the bay from Union City.
Oh, BTW. Bring some semi-warm clothes. Right now at this time of year it can be 40 degrees and windy or 70 degrees and sunny. It's a bit wierd. At least a windbreaker.

Thanks for the input guys.
And ya, I probably won't have a ton of time for tourist things... but who knows. It will mostly be "after work" kind of stuff anyway. So even if I end up meeting up with a few people for dinner or something, that would work. Have to see what happens.

That's a possibility Dave. I'll know a little more next week too. Another guy I work with is heading out there on Monday to do the same thing. I'm just going the week after he is there. I should be able to find out from him what the day is like and when I might expect to get out.

So it looks so far like most days are just going to be standard 8-5 days. And the office is only like 5 minutes from the hotel, so I don't think it would be a problem being available around 5:30 depending on what's going on.
The Wednesday thing sounds cool so far. Then if anyone wants to get together for dinner or something any other night, that would be nice to get out of the hotel.

Just thought of one thing I do want to make sure to do while I'm there...
Go see the Pacific Ocean. If anyone has any recommendations on that, it would be nice. Like I said, I've never been out there at all, so it would be kind of nice.

Just so you know, trafffic is no fun at all in the bay area. So, if you're getting off work at 5-7 be prepared to double or even triple your travel time if you plan on hopping on the freeway.
If you want to see the Pacific, I highly recommend Ocean Beach in SF. It's basically the west end of the city. It's relatively quick and easy to get to - major roads or freeways will take you there. It's pretty cold and windy this time of year still though. You might not have time but I would also recommend the "59 mile" drive through SF. It's a route that takes you all the way around the city's best views. It takes you across the Golden Gate Bridge, and all along Ocean Beach. You could also basically drive around the perimeter of SF. It gets a little tricky around the Persidio but a navi would help.
Maybe someone in the SF / Daly City area can show you around the highlights of the city on Friday of that week. Try PM'ing Dray (scovillebox). There's usually a meet just south of SF on Friday nights - it goes pretty late, usually until midnight (we end up at Denny's), but maybe everyone could go for a drive instead if people come earlier.

Just changed my hotel. Not 100% sure if it is for better or worse though. The guy out there now says the Crowne Plaza kind of sucks. Very slow internet, not really nice rooms. But we also had a couple guys out there stay in the Hilton Garden Inn - which they said was much nicer. I switched. Can't live without slow Internet... especially for work.

Hey there !!!
Look forwarding to meeting ya!
Keeping an eye on this thread for your final plans.
If you have never been here before we can definitely give you the tour.
Pier 39, Coit Tower, Crooked Street, Twin Peaks.....
Probably better you are the passenger so you can enjoy the views and take pics if you want.
See ya soon!! Dray

So it appears that I'm going to have standard 8-5 days. Will be getting in on Sunday and hopefully at the hotel by 4 or 4:30.
My availability then... I think... would be like this:
Sun-Friday: 5pm to 11pm-ish.
Ya, that's about it. And this would be pending any urgent after hours work (which is extremely unlikely, but you never know).
It sounds like Wednesday will be San Jose meet? If Dave can't make it down and pick me up, anyone else heading that way? The Friday thing sounds cool... but I'm sort of concerned about time frame. Thankfully my return flight isn't until 11:15a on Saturday, but I don't want to be out all night before a 5 or 6 hour flight.
So outside of those potential Wed and Fri things... I'm up for whatever the rest of the time. Even if just meeting a few people for dinner. I'm open to recommendations on food too...
