Default Do Local Shops Discriminate???

Just wondering if anyone has bad experiences w/ local shops if you aren't affiliated w/ a certain Scion group?

I hate to think I have to order 100's or 1000's of miles away for parts I can pick up locally.

Thanks!

hmm... i've had no bad experiences before or after any affiliation.

for example.. I know Gabe (Stylis) doesn't care if you're in a group or not. he works on cars.. and that's business. it helps that he knows alot about the vehicles too.

if a certain shop discriminates you.. then screw them.. they lost your business and your money.

in the end it's their loss, not yours.

and then you can also inform us on the forums here what shops have discriminated against you.. and i personally wouldn't deal with them anymore.

discrimination because of that is just stupid.

^^ I agree with Trung. It's a money game, and as long as you have the money they should be interested. If they do discriminate, just forget it. As said, their loss, not yours.

Just remember to shop around and get the best prices.

yeah, that too.

i would say, being in a group and knowing people will help you in that process (shopping around)...
that's pretty much it.

your decision to join a certain "Scion group" is your choice. no one should haggle you because of that. like i said... screw them if they do.

it's all about the family and friendship.

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, it does sound pretty bad to get bad service just because you aren't affiliated w/ a certain Scion group. I suppose it's possible though.

I will let people know when I get bad service from local shops. Hopefully it doesn't get people too upset.

PrecisionMuffler.com does not discriminate against anyone, we actually have discounts to a number of clubs. Not just scion clubs either. :D If there is anything that we can do to help you out, please feel free to email or PM me. :D

Thats not discrimination, thats trying to get parts without paying for shipping. I don't like to charge people for shipping when they are local to me, I even try to get weopon R parts without having people pay for shipping.

I wasn't there so... I don't know!
I will say this though...
Stylis tries/must, do everything on his own. ( Just like myself ).
This typically means great customer service and relations.
Unfortunately, it also means we can be overwelmed by the demands
of the day sometimes.
Sometimes I get backed-up by more than a week!
All I hope for is people to understand the difference of,
I want it now / or / I need it now.
I truely have fantastic customers, and I'm greatful to them for
putting up with me.
Again, I wan't there.
Thanks for reading,
Dave

Oh yeah!
If a shop does discriminate....

they're a bunch of yellow bellied, lilly livered, crawlin' skunks!!!

And.... it sucks to be them! Bad karma ( or is it kharma ? )
oh well. you get it.

I don't think they discriminate as much as show favoritism towards certain groups.

Example: while at a shop looking to get some work done a friend/club member came in and asked if the owner/operator had a part. The owner/operator said I got one of those, it's for a customer, was a special order.

The friend/club member said I could sure use it, gonna take a few days to order one.

Owner/Operator said You can have this one, I'll just order another one and he can wait. he installed it in the friends/club members car and off he drove off.

I'll never order or have any work done there. wasn't really discrimination, just favoritism towards someone else.
