it shouldn't matter imo. I mean cops pull you over from the back anyways. Its dumb to have two plates, waste of resource's if you ask me. Just think of how many pt cruisers could be made if they stopped make two plates for every car... LMAO! I hate those cars!

No, the Front Plate is a revenue source using camera enforcement.

I don't know if it has changed, but the last time I was in court all the photo tickets were thrown out. The reason is there was a photo of the person in the car and another picture of the light. But not one picture of the car and the light in one photo. They couldn't prove that the light was red when the photo was taken. This might have changed since then. One time I was driving up Franklin and the light was green, but the camera was taking picture like crazy. The whole street backed up, because no one wanted to drive though the light.

When I got my ticket I was behind a motorcycle cop and he saw that I didn't have a front plate. He pulled over to the shoulder and when I passed him he got behind me. I wasn't speeding or doing anything wrong. He was just bored and had nothing better to do.

Well I just noticed that my car, straight from the dealer does not have the front plate, even the blank placard with their delaer name on it. So no holes have been drilled. I'm pretty happy about it, but I know there is always the possibility. Personally I know a few cops who say they don't pull people over for that unless they are already breaking another law, such as speeding, unsafe lane change.. etc. I plan on not having on on the front of my xB for as long as humanly possible. If I ever need to put it on, I'll plan on zip tying it to the grill. It's just CA being a major pain in motorists asses. Anything they can do to regulate people and their cars, they'll do it.

My other car, Acura TL Type S, doesn't have front plate and no problem thus far... (3 yrs)
Now with my RS3.... i have a strange feeling that i will eventually get pulled over for not having the front plate....

Each state's laws are a bit different, and the actual enforcement of those laws varies wildly.

Just for reference, here's the law in Washington State:
