Wow--I moved to LA on the first of Oct 1989--just days before the earthquake collapsed the 880. What a mess you will have on your hands. Everyone complains about traffic in LA--but if you don't like the freeway you are on there are usually three others that will get you where you are going. Around the Bay--you don't have many choices. Good luck to you all for as long as it takes to fix..........
Actually, the commute was lighter than Spring Break week this morning. Luckily, I only go to West Oakland so I exit before the accident spot and then jump on BART into the City.. It will be interesting to see how things go tonight. I'll probably try BART again tomorrow, but I have to get to Dublin at least 1/2 an hour earlier than when I drive just to get parking.
pretty insane videos on http://sfgate.com . Click on the YouTube Link... looksl ike something from burnout!!
Traffic this morning wasnt bad at all really... I get off on the 580 from the 24... and then the other way too. as long as you to have to head down to the 880 most people are cool. didnt seem to be too much traffic though

just drove the 80 to 580 to 980 to 880 this morning...
it was about 11am or so... traffic slightly sucked... but i can't imagine how horrible the morning rush hour would've been like.
caught a glimpse of the damage.... it was eeep...

.... it affects the south bay...
traffic in the morning on 280 sucks now since the incident... takes me perhaps twice as long to get to school in the morning unless i wake up like an hour earlier.. at which point it's still pretty bad.

but yeah.. 280 south of 880 is much more backed up than normal.... guess you can be glad you get onto the 280 from 880.
