Well i was driving home from my buddys house and i was merging on the freeway so i flored it on the on ramp and low and behold there was a CHP with his lights off and as i blasted by him i already knew i was F'ed. He pulls me over asked me whats under the hood? made me step out and show him. Tried to lie by just saying i had the exuast and intake. Didnt work. So i got a ticket for my Alpaha werks header and my injen SR intake. So i have to go see a refery or some crap like that. Well just though id share my sad story any words of advice would be appreciated.

 

WTF? Intake is illegal? Can I give you guys a little hint. If you know you are going to be pulled over....pull over before he pulls out or gets behind you.

 

 

Back in the day that trick saved me more times than I can count. Usually the cop would be so wierded out that he'd go after the other guy and leave me alone.

 

A guy I work with does that too, and it's worked for him many times he says. Its funny cuz he says he "Pulls Himself Over" before the cop does.

 

Im pretty sure i am going to have to put all my stock parts back on wich is really discourageing 4 me. Im thinking of just giving up on tuneing my scion and fixing up my old 87 Mr2.

 

I'd sure like to see the actual citation and/or what vehicle code sections were written. How could he make you show him?

I've always had this pondering question in the back of my mind.

How is it that every major Import/Aftermarket company is primarily located in Cali, but yet they have such strick laws on modding your vehicle? How do these cars in mags with major work on them come out of Cali? I just don't get it.

In TN if that was the same situation, the cop would have just given you a speeding ticket, Never even would have thought TWICE to look under your hood.

 

if u blasted him, then he'll probably hear exhaust from u.... datz why he asks u if u have any mods, normally cops won't harrass u if u drive normally on the freeway.... local - on the other hand, its a totally different thing

i still remembered last time i got followed by a CHP, i was only going 70..... i have a Greddy EVO2 exhaust, he had more then enough reasons to pull me over, but he jus sped away.... and leave me in the dust of course

bottom line, it all depends on the situatin and the kinda cop he / she is

 

I'm sure the term "blasted" is very literal in this case. The fact that you have a header and exhaust most likely means its pretty damn loud (and raspy ). That, combined with the fact that you floored it means he was like "oh look another ricer", lets eat him up. Hey though I mean that's there job so can't really give him any flak. After all you knew when you bought those parts that they are illegal, right? Next time don't floor it and start shifting at 3k rpms . Don't be discouraged either about modding your car. Just be a little more conscious of your driving habits and more alert on what cars are on the road ahead of you.

ha exactly its allways a cause in san jose....cause you looked like someone i had put in jail..cause you have a h badge on a acura...casue i couldnt tell you had your seat belt on...casue you had a siren .. casue it looked like you had high beams on...cause you fit the discrption..cause you have a crack in the windshield(it was dark out and he happened to not notice that i had both turn signals broken and failed to signal ).cause that truck was stolen oops ""ops it wasnt'' so here's your f'n dl back''' i like casue MAYBE IT SHOULD BE CAUSE WE ARE BEING STEROE TYPED??

LOL...I'm uhhh....Hmmm...well....hehehe J/K. I'm just saying that there a lot out there that have something to prove. They push their authoritah around for the mere reason that they can. Not all fall into this catagory...I'm sure you would have just wrote the ticket for speeding and the only reason you would have him pop the hood was to check it out.
I got pulled over when I was 12 deiving my dirtbike on the side of the road by a motorcycle police. He proceeded to yell and start writing me tickets for no license, no plates, no ins....and and and... When I stated that he was a city poice and we were in the county, he got ____ed and called a sherriff. The sherriff came and the MC police let him take over on the 'big bust' (he lived up the street, thats the only reason he was in that area) the sherriff just told me to keep it off the street and let me go (to the dismay of the POed police! HAHA) That MC cop was a total A$$. HE, my friend, probably got beat up every DAY in HS! Come on Squirrel, you know I'm kidding!!

I know this one Police Officer. He happened to roll up on an illegal street drag in the Port of Oakland. He recognized a few cars and some of the peeps that were there.

He went up to one guy, and said "I bet you got a turbo, and a tweaked gizzer motor under the hood, right?" The driver of the car was stunned, and didn't know what to say.

The Police Officer told them not to come back, and if they did, he was going to impound all of the cars and rip everyone tickets.

They all left in a nice orderly fashion.

The driver didn't recognize the Police Officer until the Police Officer went up to the driver at a car show a few months down the road.

That reminds me of the time a cop that was a friend of a friend that I sort of knew came up to us on drag night and said, "ok, who's fastest?" and all these people start pointing at me. (this was WAY before my ride was a scion...) I recognized the cop and figured we weren't really going to be busted, so I said "Fastest? Why, sir, that would require some sort of illegal speed contest..."

Nobody there knew I knew the guy...

 

I hate cops that would give ppl tickets out of the blue......
Rosetti... in Fremont..... gave me a ticket on my clear corner on a broad day light (when i used to have my beetle) w/o knowing my bulbs are orange in the front and red in the rear.... wat an @$$

 

welp... damn... that's rosetti for ya... i wonder how many horror stories that guy has caused...
