Default I'm looking for a new JOB! (details inside)

Hey guys,

I was wondering if you guys can help me out. Im currently 18 and Ive been working in retail for about two and a half years now. Im starting to look for another job. I dont necessarily want another retail job, but I wouldnt mind.

Im actually looking for something with higher wages. Hopefully, this new job will be around the 10 dollar range with less work than what Im doing now. I was wondering if the new Pericy Toyota dealership have job openings for like detailer or something. As for the most part, I have no idea where I want to work considering that Im focusing more on school.

Im willing to work about 30 hour weeks, if thats any help. If you guys have any recommendations, let me know!

Home Depot. The work is cake. When and if they ask how much you expect to be paid, don't be afraid to say anything more than $10. I think 2 years ago, entry level meant $10. I don't know now.

Well why not look for work in the field(s) you're interested in? I haven't worked in retail in... 3yrs and now I just work in graphic design/web design jobs instead. Pays a whole lot more than Home Depot or any retail position really. Nice because I don't have my degree yet either!

yeah, Im in school right now. Im going into my second semester of my first year at SJSU in a few weeks.

The reason Im not looking for a job in my field is because Im majoring in Business with a concentration in MIS. Not many companies will hire a 18 year old fresh into college that might be changing his/her major; let alone even taken a class about their field of interest. Am I right?

Thanks for the input though guys.

Keep the comments coming in!

If you're interested in MIS try working as a tech monkey in the student labs. Good chance to meet some chikas too. An on-campus job will be a lot more flexible about your hours.

The best money at your age I would have to say a server at a restaurant..... when I worked at Applebees during my 18<x<21 days you can make about 20-30 an hour on a shift, if youre good. otherwise like 15-25.

if youre looking for money, an on campus job is the wrong place to look esp if you a freshman.

from my experiences, the only advantage to working on campus is that they are flexible with hours and they schedule you arond your classes.

Try for an internship related to your future field - you don't usually get paid as well as a regular part time job but the experience is usually well worth it and it looks better on your future resume.

Unless of course, you're paying your own way through college.
