Hey there folks!
well.. despite the fact that i have a small grudge against the armed forces, (esp. the one Paul just left to basic training for...) knowing the stupidity and BS that he has to go through there.. I would like to throw together perhaps a small care package, or at least peak some interest into people sending letters to him while he's going through training.
i'm not quite sure of his contact info right now and i might have to ask some help in that area (Alan?! you got anything?)... and with certain policies, it might be required to have his family send the package/letters we put together for us.

Trung~ If i remember right, you can send anything except photos of girls wearing certain things...if all your sending are letters then it's fine as long as they can identify who it's coming from. You just need to address the letter as follows:
Name
Company(ei: India-172, or how ever they name them)
City, state, zip

Well, my brother went to army boot camp recently, and we received a letter from the camp stating we can't give anything perishable. I forgot others but pretty much they won't send it back, they'll just throw it away and nobody will ever see it again. Just be careful with the contents you are sending. If you doubt they'll accept it in any way, it's probably true.
If people are going to send letters, I'm in.
If people are going to send letters, I'm in.
no one has contact with him yet. Must really sucks. He got my address and he said he'll send me nude photos of himself
anyways,
If he does send me something ill know the address.
Or once he finally gets to his laptop.

no laptops in basic... no cell phones... minimal phone usage at all.. and most, if any, contact will be thru snail mail
we won't know much until he sends something back home really..

let us know how he's feeling about it. i tried to give him some pointers and what not.
i wouldn't send anything thats not permitted. all it takes it a @ss of a RDC and he'll be doing pushups until the cows come home. idc how you disguise it. my RDCs went through our packages, not the regualr letter mail, in front of the whole division. if someone got sealed cookies or candy, they ate them in front of us. if it was homemade it went in the trash.

they vaguely screen them on occasion.. only if there's reasonable doubt.
but yea.. also depends on the RDCs in charge

it was funny to me. my folks knew not to send anything of the sort. and reasonable doubt is in every case when it's a package. they (RDCs) may not check, but a package never made it through our RDCs hands w/o being checked. your RDCs may not have checked, but do you really think they haven't caught on to putting stuff in different boxes. Think about it you went to boot camp like four years ago. RDCs aren't stupid, most of them have kids, so they've seen/heard of some poop. it's only a two month period, if you can't go without candy/cookies for two months that's pretty sad. but w/e, to each it's own but the probability that you will waste your money is high. in the letters make sure to keep him updated on the latest and greatest (i.e. gossip and what not). it was in bootcamp that i learned aaliyah's passing, mariah carey going to a mental institution and rumored nas' death. and then sept 11 hit, they actually let us watch tv for that.
