thank goodness i never had to get a boot hair cut. NuGrow FTMFreakinW.
I just got out of Army basic and Combat engineer AIT, we could get pictures and care packages(i.e. soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, basically personal hygiene items are ok) don't send food cause one of two things will happen. 1) the Drill Sgt. will take it and eat it later or they'll make you eat it then smoke the crap out of you. that's what they did to us

oh i almost forgot. make sure to ask if he can have conditioner. when i went only the black females could have it b/c if we didn't the water would dry out our hair. i highly doubt he'll need it (since the cut the males hair so low), but i won't want you guys wasn't the money.

We weren't allowed to use shampoo or conditioner only soap to wash our hair, I think the 4 females in our training company where allowed to have shampoo

yea... for me and my division at least, we used this green shampoo stuff (Prell..) for us that we got at the exchange as our soap and shampoo.
supposed to not leave much residue and stuff to make cleaning the showers easier... but eghh.. bleh.
i think it did alot better at cleaning the tile and crap than our own hair.... or much lack there of.

they pretty much want to send you in, and get you out without any problems so you can head out there and work.
i seriously wouldn't mind going through something like that again. especially knowing what to expect.

actually i hear it's easier. the galley ("cafeteria") and classrooms are now in the "ships". haha no lie, the day after we did "battle stations" they group in the next graduating class that were about to begin their battle stations, had on snekers and the "recruit" ball caps. we were so ____ed, like WTF is this ish!!!! LOL, glad i went through the old way b/c now i can clown on the suckers that got the easy sneakers/ball cap deal.
it really wasn't bad at all, as long as you just stay out of trouble and do what you have to do. some people try to out smart the RDCs and that's when it's not so cool. plus you're done, you feel as if you really accomplished something. it's nothing like when m dad went through (1974). army and marine boot camp isn't for me though, bleh.
is it still snowwing in chi-town??

i can't remember.. but i'm sure i was one of the last graduating classes to do battle stations in boots too.. but saying you were there when 9/11 hit and other things (yeah.. i found out about aaliyah while in basic too) i guess maybe we were in the same? *shrugs*..
yeah.. it's gotten sooo much easier since we both graduated... some liability crap about wearing boots during battle stations was what made the change... too many people messing up, getting messed up... shins... whatever...
yeah.. i saw that *ish too.. i was pretty much like. "WTF?!?!" as well.. oh well..
i'll say those were the best moments in there... getting your "NAVY" ballcap after finishing... and the sense of accomplishment. battle stations was fun as hell.
didn't hear about the change in the galley and classes inside the ships though? that's kinda... LAME? eeesh.

yeah tell me about it. i still remember walking to galley 928. i was in "ship 1", right in front of the tunnel, so that was a hellofa walk. i was in division 365, graduated on sept 20.
whoever writes him make sure he has your number (i.e. put it in the letter), it sucks having phone time and not being able to get ahold of someone. and it's not that much time, at least it wasn't in 01.

wow.. that galley sucked.. >.<
i think i was in ship 10.. supposedly rumored to be one of worst conditions as far as amenities and the conditions of the building were just poor.
keeping our berthing clean took quite a bit of effort..
hmm.. perhaps my graduating class was when the battle stations change started to just take place... but our RDCs chose to do it the good ol' version... we didn't believe in sneakers and recruit ball caps.
i want my helmet!
hmm.. i'm sure Paul is doing just fine.. but uhh.. hmm.. would like to get him a letter out at least by the end of this next week.
