I've just gotta toss my 2 cents in on this.... there are so many posts on ScionLife where people have had issues with the Toyota made s/c. It's hard to believe that Toyota, a company that has built a reputation on quality... It's amazing what a POS the s/c turned out to be.

yeah it's a shame looks like we know the real reason behind it being discontinued. but now i know on a personal level how it feels to be in this position.

agreed. many people blame vortech for a poorly designed supercharger but from what ive learned they only designed the blower end for toyota. TRD used poor quality...everything basically. the shaft, bearings, oil seals, etc.

trd s/c design=fail

What exactly do you need uninstalled? Every single content? I just uninstalled mine a few days ago, I could help you out as long as you can drive out to Sacramento. If you plan on having your car running again, make sure you have a spare ecu, oil and filter etc haha.

http://www.car-part.com

Search by model and year, then Engine Computer.

Looks like they start at $50, going up to $500, with $200 being average. Call the salvage yard to see if they ship, and make sure it's been tested as good. Some places will let you return a bad one. Also see if you can verify it didn't come from a supercharged tc, otherwise it will already have been reflashed and not work with stock.

yeah man.... honestly that's the last thing you would think you'd see coming from Toyota....and skimping on a part that's supposed to be for higher performance no less... they should be ashamed of themselves for doin that. That's an expensive part to the buyer for it to just fall apart.

Do you want it professionally un-installed? I would call Dave Gille at Stevens Creek Toyota Service Dept. He can diagnose your engine problems by sound alone. Possibly over the phone. With loud music playing in the background. However, bear in mind, he'd have to charge you quite a bit more because he's on Toyota's time and using their shop.

If you'd like some folks to HELP you take the supercharger off, bring it by LCT (little Chinatown) i.e. the Wong house in South SF on Sunday (they're there every Sunday). Bring instructions though. The kids are pretty handy and Forced Induction is the only thing they haven't done. It'd be a good learning experience for them and doable in a day.

You might try PM'ing Mike (equinox2355) - He's got a SC on his ride that he helped install so he'd probably be down to help take one off. However, his schedule is kind of wierd so you'd have to get him to help on his day off.

^ You could take it to a professional who wants a professional price. And I wouldn't suggest taking it to someone who hasn't done their own supercharger install/uninstall yet alone touch something force inducted.

I've done my own install/uninstall twice and has took only about 5 hours without instructions.

And to etli, I don't think there is anything wrong with his car, he can't drive it because the supercharger has a failed bearing.

its easy to uninstall just time consuming. but you will need a new ecu specific to your year and transmission. and you will also have to re-key the ecu to work with your car. why dont you just pick up a tamper proof cap? theres another for sale on the forum and bring the car in, they should replace it. even if you dont want the blower anymore, im sure they will remove it for you due to warranty. then you can sell that thing.

as far as the TRD s/c goes i guess its all luck. some people get screwed over. i ran the s/c with 12psi and a custom intercooler and it ran flawlessly for the 30k i had it on there. and no i didnt drive like a granny either. i also had one of the first s/c for the tc so i would only assume they'd fix the problem in later generations. the person i sold the setup to has been running it for over 40k with no problems either.

So sciontific tc do you just want the whole thing removed and back to N/A or do you want it fixed? Are you still under warranty? Are you trying to keep everything under warranty?

yeah i just want it removed. don't want to deal with the headache anymore. the dealer doesn't want to cover it under warranty since i didn't buy the s/c from a dealership although it was installed by one. im a college student with a part time job so moneys really short right now and my car is just sitting in my garage because it is undriveable.
