agreed. many people blame vortech for a poorly designed supercharger but from what ive learned they only designed the blower end for toyota. TRD used poor quality...everything basically. the shaft, bearings, oil seals, etc.

trd s/c design=fail

don't blame trd for all superchagers .

I mean look at the old units for the 3.4 v6's , or the old 4.7 v8's . they know what's up .

toyota/ trd probably ordered components from a new/ crappy parts supplier.

Their parts supplier was still Vortech with the tC supercharger. The superchargers for the v6's were different styles, those were roots, which probably would have been a better idea for the tC. lol.

yea, a roots style blower would have been better for our bigger sized 4cyl. it would have maximized the displacement by being able to make torque way down low instead of being linearly dependent on RPM and making all the power up top. the cool thing with the centerfugal blower was the ability to run a bov.

i think the reason behind the whole blower + shaft design was the limited space between the firewall and the motor. it would have been a pain to work on it back there.

^ True. I'd rather have a roots styled supercharger than the ability to have a blowoff. If anything, that was the only cool thing about our supercharger. Everything was whack. I'd still have my motor if the supercharger didn't blow it. Then I wouldnt have gotten my Si, good thing it blew my motor :D

If you're free on a Sat or Sun, shoot me or Equinox 2355 a PM. The kids at LCT are handy and they have a lot of tools. They're in South SF so they're close to you. If we can get equinox there, I'm sure we can un-install your SC without any problems.

Or we could just do it at your place in Union City. We just gotta schedule it.

Hey man.... my post did NOT blame TRD for ALL S/C problems...that would be a falicy...
In my post referring to that.... I was just simply stating that in general there is a fairly large number of peeps that have invested in the TRD S/C only to incure problems....and I was just stating ...having owned Toyota's for more than 15 years myself.... I've never seen them bring a single product to market with more issues than the S/C'r for the Scion tC is all.

Invested .... as in those that purchased the S/C for their tC's....I just think over all most peeps would expect less problems out of a Toyota authorized product is all.

^ Invest is the correct word lol. Investing means that the item could potentially appreciate lol.

It was supposed to be a joke, but cancel that.

lmao...we're not buying stock here... we all know that if you buy performance parts.... build up a car... overwhelming odds are that you will never get back out of it the time, parts, cost, and passion you put into it.
