State Refs in the Bay Area?

Hey,
I just got a fix it ticket earlier.
The it was a 2 lane highway and the cop just got on and stayed in the right lane and I was on the left lane. I knew he was there so I was maintaining 50-52 in a 50 mph zone. I noticed that he kept braking so after like 5 mins I ended up next to him and then he slowed down and pulled me over. He said he pulled me over for speeding 62mph in a 50mph zone, window tint and modified exhaust. He also said he saw me kept looking down at the speedometer. So obviously I kept checking my speed to make sure I wasn't speeding. Then he asked for my keys and asked me to pop the hood. He saw my Injen CAI and asked if I had the CARB sticker. He ended up giving me a window tint ticket and the modified emissions ticket. Both correctable and it requires me to go to a state ref. The cop actually forgot to give my keys back so I had to stop him before he left.
I was reading about the state refs in the so-cal regional thread and I have a few questions...
1) Can I just put my stock airbox back before I go to the state ref?
2) Will they do a smog test on my car?
3) Should I just keep the Greddy SP2 on the car since that is the only part modified?
4) Has anyone been to a state ref in the Bay Area? Is there anything I should know before I go?
5) Will the state ref check for my window tint infraction there? Or can I ask them to let me go get it signed off?
Thanks

i don't know about the window tint but as for the smog test. my friend got pulled over for modified emission ticket and all he did was swap out the injen intake and put on the stock one. he did the smog test and it passed. if the ticket doesn't require to do a smog test then you don't have to. just put everything back to stock and sign it off. pain in the butt but its what you have to do. sorry to hear that you got pulled over for that kind of stuff.

The ticket doesn't say anything about a smog check. It just tells me to make an appointment with the state ref. I'm planning to go with the stock intake, but I'm thinking if I should leave the SP2 on or not.
BTW, does anyone know how much they will charge me?

Just a little update...
Apparently the state had to cut the state referees. The site shows:
"Per the Governor's Executive Order issued on July 31, 2008 concerning the state budget, Referee and Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) Repair Assistance, and Vehicle Retirement services have been suspended until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience. Consumers may call the Department of Consumer Affairs, Consumer Information Center at (800) 952-5210. Also, please check our web site periodically to confirm when both Referee and CAP services will resume."
Even the phone number says that.
Hopefully this means something good for me

I was on Highway 17 in between Santa Cruz and San Jose.
Yea the CHP asked me if I had any engine mods and I told him only a CAI. I guess he didn't believe me so he asked to check it out.

Haha
So I went to the courthouse today and told me the ticket is not in yet and would take at least 2 weeks, but they gave me a number to call to ask what I can do about it. When I called the number, they told me to go to the courthouse.
Waste of time!

No can do Gabe. Remember the agreement when obtaining your license. If you fail to agree upon inspection (in the car, trunk, or under the hood) the cop cannot do anything for the day except make a call to the DMV. The DMV will then automatically suspend your license (for 6 months if I recall).
Just call the number in the next 2 weeks. It's a run around. What do you expect from a state that places sting ops that cost more than the actual outcome.

Yea I'll just have to wait a few weeks.
I've been looking through a few forums and found mixed outcomes for ppl in my situation.
Some either had to pay the fine $600--$1000, some ended up getting it signed off (regular fix-it ticket) and some has it dismissed. Hopefully mine will get dismissed

I am all about being legal and keeping the streets clean, but a lot of the cops are out there looking for warrants on people. The fact that they can get you on other illegal stuff is just a bonus. I remember I was pulled over coming home from a lacrosse game with the family and he let me go because he was just checking out my record for warrants. My exhaust was the same then as it is now. The initial stop was because of my taillights. My buddy who is with San Jose PD told me yeah he was looking for warrants.
back in 2000 i got stopped for all of the same things as you. it was when i had my civic.
once you get nabbed for emissions tampering you were supposed to get a smog check at the refs. they would've decibel tested your exhaust too. so if u do end up going put the stock intake back on and if u think that the exhaust isn't that loud then leave it on. if it is below 95 db then they will give u a certification for the exhaust. that was back then tho.
if the program is suspended now u might have to pay the fine without testing. hopefully they will just dismiss the whole ticket since they no longer have the refs anymore.
