Default Carbon Fiber drilling in PNW

Well, ive got a Seibon OE style carbon fiber hood, and ive got hood pins. and i need to get the two put together. Does anyone know any shops in the PNW that does carbon fiber drilling? Ive called some places willing to do it but one place wants 5-6 hours labor and at 55$ an hour, that seems rediculous. another place said they can do it for 95$ an hour and should take about an hour, so i want to know where you went to get your carbon fiber drilled. if you did it your self let me know and maybe we can work something out thanks yall!

You should be able to do it yourself! If you don't feel comfortable, I am sure any local performance shop could do it for less. Basically where the hood meets the stops on your radiator support right around the curve.

Check here: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...pins&&start=20

Look for playinwithfire's gold tC for the reccomened install

Remember to cut from the underside out and put like blue tape over the outside where it is expected to come through, and just use the spot from the hood support.

Hope this helps!

blue tape and a sharp bit are your friend...........also if you are over 21.........two or three colds ones prior to drilling so you are no longer nervous...... well maybe better let me have the cold ones and you be nervous........

Mount the pins to the bump stop or near it on radiator cross bar......

Let hood rest on it......take a blue sticky dot.........you know the postit dots.........and put it exactly where the hood and pin meet then center the bit..........

Use a pilot tipped bit from Dewalt and slowly drill throughthe dot..........make sure that you have blue tape on hood top side in two layers...........

Once bit has gotten through under side of frame only bring back down and rest on pins and see if they are in right spot or close..........you can make hole larger after you get all the way through to fit perfect.........but that comes later........

Now that you are sure you are in the right spot take bit and go through top side from under neath......get it so it is just through........then let hood downa nd drill from top so it comes out clean.........this is why you use the pilot tip........always use smaller than final size...........

Once you have holes allthe way through goto final size bit that manufaturer recomends and drill from top down to final hole size........the pin face is gonna hide any and all imperfections.............

If at any point this seems to hard goto shop that charges $95 to do it in an hour......as that is about all it takes........at home maybe two hours since it has never been done by you..........

Also you got the Seibon hood right........it is built good and may not need pins.......

Its hit or miss (and also depends GREATLY on the brand/quality), but I always say better safe than sorry.

yes I have done pins in metal hoods lot of them........never in a cf hood but it is all the same.........drill make holes........pins go through.........guess when you get old like me you worry less and are relaxed with projects.........remember you willneed help doing it as you need a spotter and a holder..........see you will be focused on drilling but you need a holder on both sides and one extra pair of eyes to watch to make sure you are not doing anything stupid...........serious.........come to the MG on friday and I can show you how to do it.........it is very easy to do..........

Will stop showing those pins.............I want to be the only one with them.........they are awsome.........but complex to install.........not a lot of leeway on center.........they would be an advanced install......at least 4 cold ones..........

HAHA, some hoods don't even have the latch, if that is the case then the locks really help!!

As for 4 cold ones, not a beer man, Vodka and I'm there.. but this time I'm not gonna eat McDonold's right afterward and then fly...made for an interesting night.. oh and ordering McDonold's drunk at the OC Airport...classic. End Threadjack.
