Default Clutch install: Portland

After putting my intake on last week, I noticed that my clutch slips when I shift hard. Honestly, I never bothered to shift hard for the last 26,600 miles because the engine never seemed to like the higher RPM range. However, when I put my intake on, I wanted to try out the upper range to see what it was like. But, when I shift hard into 2nd and 3rd, the clutch seems to slip. I am considering getting a higher-performance clutch, such as the ACT unit in the future.

Are there places in the Portland area that will install an aftermarket item like this, or am I pretty much SOL for aftermarket parts installations? I'll probably keep my OE clutch until/if it gets bad, but I'd like to know if there's a place I can bring my xB if I decide to do the replacement.

So has anyone ever used Clutch Doctors?

26K on the clutch and it's slipping?
Talk to your local Scion dealer and see if that's covered. (probably not, but worth a shot). That's pretty darn quick to go through a clutch.

I know. I've read a bunch of thread around here, and apparently it's fairly common. It only slips when you put your foot to the floor in 2nd or 3rd. I rarely ever took the car past 4500 rpm before I had an intake. I'm not saying I'm going to be driving around like a nutball now, but now that I have the intake on, I can hear the engine more, and I noticed it.

I suppose I could bring it in, but I'm sure they'll either say they won't do anything about it because it's a wear-and-tear item, or that I shouldn't be "driving it that hard" anyway; plus the car is lowered, intake, exhaust, yada yada yada, modifed car, "probably beats the crap out of it." I've owned enough modified cars to know dealers don't like 'em.

I'd almost rather just fork over the cash for a high-performance unit so I don't have to worry about it again.

We have one up the street here in Everett and they have a good reputation.

I'm with ya

BTW - check out PDXtuning. They might be a good place to start, even though they seem to be mostly Suby stuff. If nothing else, they might know a good place in town.
