Default Coming to the Pacific NW for a Holiday Visit, need some info

My hubby, the box and I are going hitting the road toward Friday Harbor on the 21st of November to spend the holiday with his family who lives there. I am very excited to be coming but...

I know you guys have had some pretty nasty weather up there, but CA being what it is, news story's that relate to anything but corruption in the LAPD or our Govenor are few and far between. How are things going up there? Have you dried out at all?

I need some help with weather reports and places to avoid. We have not seen our family in 4 years or so and have had a very tough year, I would like to make this trip as stressless as possible on my husband.

Any info would be most most appreciated!!! Can't wait to get up there and get away from So Cal... Now I know that folks from the NW don't particularly like us CA folk but I promise you I don't plan to stay, I'm only visiting.

Thanks so very very much guys!!! :D

We'll be dried out by Nov. 21st from the flooding. It will probably be just our "normal" rainy weather. There should be snow in the passes here but you shouldn't have to worry about that because Friday Harbor is out in the sound.

You should be fine! Good luck!

Friday harbor may be one of the most beautiful places in the world.... our weather here is generally harmless... this last wet spell is very unusual.. I lived in Orange Co for a while and in the Bay area... it isn't that we don't like So Cal people at all... generally, for me... I just don't like mean people... no matter where they live!

Avoid Portland at rush hour! I drive in it everyday and it is never much fun.

The Washington State Department of Transportation has scads of travel info. Cameras, road closures, road temperatures... hunt around on that site and odds are you'll find something helpful.

By the 21st, the main roads all ought to be fine. If you want to head on up into the mountains, though, that's another story.

Just an update for any of you that are interested... our trip to WA went off with out a hitch. The box performed flawlessly on the trip (as we knew it would), even in the snow up in Shasta and the Siskous (coming home). Wow it was cold up there this past weekend but I loved it. We are planning to buy a piece of dirt up on the San Juans this year, so we can retire there. Thanks to all who posted once again!

My husband's parents live there... I had been to Seattle but never to the islands, what a wonderful place. I did not want to leave. I don't blame you for being bitter about it either. I am just gonna buy dirt and let it sit until I am ready, I figure about 10 years the kids will all be grown by then and off the payroll. I can't wait to go back... summer 2007 will be the next visit.

Oh the snow... we missed it in WA but we hit it in Oregon and in No Cal. We have pics of the little green xB up in Shasta sitting in a field in the snow. My parents have sent all kinds of pics, they got 8 inches so it looks like we left just in time to at least make it home by Monday.
