I always wanted to score a magazine feature with my scion, but never did. Turns out I needed to go a bit more old school. Check out the 5 page feature of my 240z in June's Modified Magazine!
Definitely a goal accomplished.

I actually emailed the editor as I got his contact information and talked a bit about builds and the magazine.
Nate Hassler, who shot the car, is actually a Portland guy and grew up around here. He qs also a good friend of Starla, who I married to Nick D. (AKA Honeybucket, who is an old school Scion guy), but we didn't connect those dots until I spent the day with him shooting the car. That probably helped a bit getting a good story and feature as well due to fact that we had a lot in common and ended up knowing a lot of the same people.
If you read the story, it's a lot about the reality that I am a really grassroots kind of guy and the way I build cars now and the work I do in regards to homelessness. It makes an interesting "car" story and I think it compelled them a bit towards giving me the opportunity, as they get submissions from shop built cars day in and day out and could fill a magazine easily with high end or shop built cars and I brought something else to the table.
Also, as we were randomly shooting around Portland, good ol' Matt Teske ran into us as he was on his way to work on some Scion Marketing fun and saw us with the Z. It was a funny day.
