well i was going to play some baseball on the 360 and it has been acting up after a few mins it would freeze and then today well it did it three red f'n rings so i just put the order in for the box to be shipped and now i gots to wait flippen sucks because mlb 2k8 is coming out soon so i guess i will have to get the game but not play it till i get the 360 back.

 

i got the red ring of death 2 months ago while playing DiRT, dont expect to get your 360 back for 3 weeks or more. They finally sent me a refurbished one with the new chip in it, it still runs a little funny now.

 

did you have an intercooler?
also, how long was it working good until it broke down?

 

yeah it said like 4 weeks, but they sent you a refurbished one??? i am thinking can they do that isnt that kinda wrong, shouldnt they have sent you yours back but fixed??? well anyways that sucks but another thing is what happens if it does it again ??? do they keep working on it or do they at a certain time just say nope sorry no more repairs...

Ours did this last summer after about nine months. We had the extended warrantee so we just took it back and had it swapped out for a new one no refurbished junk. The warrantees are worth it especially on new technology products. In this case being a Microsoft product I was sure it would have issues. MS can't make software bug free so how can we expect their hardware to be bug free.

 

sometimes you can get lucky. Mine came back to me in about a week and a half

 

well last week i tried to play and it froze after about 3-4 mins of play and just today did it again and this time the three rings of death showed up, i am still under warranty so the box is on its way and no the 360 is not is some air tight area that it needed an inner cooler it happened just like everyone said it would so now i just have to get the box and send it in to get fixed, ive had it since last xmas

 

lol about breaking things i haven't really played the 360 for almost a month just been busy working on the car plus i think we used it to play movies on it lately

 

get a cooler.........if you play longer than an hour regularly then you need one..........my kid has had his for 9 months and no problems but I stilpaid for the 2 year warrenty from Gamestop............cracked me up cause it was dead out of the box..........think I got a return though........new one works fine.

 

well Microsoft added the extra warrenty on all 360 like 2 more years but i guess i might have to get one now but how much did you get yours for???

 

DO NOT get the Nyko Intercooler. It has a history of frying boxes and melting to them. Just keep it in a well vented area, or if worst comes to worse, get a big fan behind it.

If you have the three rings of death you wouldnt want to get yours fixed, for one It would take longer for you to get it back, and two, refurbished is as good as new, where as yours maybe damaged...

the one they sent me back pretty much looked brand new but im sure its a refurbished one, my 360 now sits on top of my computer desk near an open window lol

 

You're still under warranty for it, unless you opened it and voided the warranty. I sent mine back in 3 days before my warranty expired (for a bad dvd drive) and got it back approx 2 weeks later. They completely replaced the entire thing with the new Falcon chip and new X-Clamp (which has much more resistance to getting the ring of death). DON'T get the intercooler for it, like the person above stated, it will just destroy your power supply, it only drops the temp of the system about 5-10 degrees and it increases the temp of the power supply by about 30. Just go online and file for the repair, so you don't have to deal with customer service on the phone. Also, before you actually do send it in, since it's already dead, wrap the system up in a towel and turn it on. Leave it for about 30 minutes (leave it lying down, not standing up), then turn it off for about 45 minutes. Then try to turn it on. This is what modders were doing when they got the RROD and for some people it worked, others it didn't. It's already dead, so it won't do any more harm.

 

well i already went on line and filed for the box to be sent and for it to go out. but i can try it tomorrow when i get off of work ( the towel thing) but other then that it is dead and no i have done nothing to it to void any warrenty or any thing. i just play it i dont even have it online so there are no updates or anything. so other then that thanks guys

 

One of my friends had the nyko cooler and it fried his power cord connections. Luckily tho you could still plug it in and play it. He just got the red ring of death (last out of all of my friends, but he got his first, lol) they are replacing his unit and giving him a new power cord even tho that part of the problem had nothing to do with MS.

Why would you complain about getting a refurb. unit? you get it quicker, and it's practically brand new.
