1) dont get any stand cooler or any kind of intercooler
2) always keep your box flat.... dont stand it up!!!
3) get xcm cooling fans...

google it.

i got it.. and my system never goes above 50c!!! i heard stock xbox heat up to 80-90c....

which is still normal for a desktop pc but not for the xbox so get xcm xtreme cooler + add onf an.. its the best!

you can costumize you box... like.. take off that metal heatshield from the inner side of the top cover... cut out all the rear mesh grill.. etc...
i u need to replace your box again somewhy.. go and buy a new xbox.. change the inside and return it.. get your money back beacuse your box is not working :D

Brad...some people make the mistake of sending in the hard drive with the box because they think that their box is going to be fixed and sent back to them. Well it isn't...as you've heard its just a refurbished unit. Make sure that you remove the HD before sending it in!

You actually can't send the system back with the HDD attached, because the molding that you need to fit the system into doesn't allow for space for the HDD. Yes, someone could still put the HDD in the box, but it had to get removed for a reason, and that reason is stated in the simple 3 5-step directions which come in the box...

Plus, if you have a custom faceplate, take it off, they usually send back a refurb (with no faceplate) or a brand new system (with a white faceplate, which is what I got 2 months ago). First time mine broke, I took off my carbon fiber faceplate and got back a naked system.

Ours did this last summer after about nine months. We had the extended warrantee so we just took it back and had it swapped out for a new one no refurbished junk. The warrantees are worth it especially on new technology products. In this case being a Microsoft product I was sure it would have issues. MS can't make software bug free so how can we expect their hardware to be bug free.

when did they come out with the 380???? just wondering

I know people who have sent in their hard drive because they just packed the system into a box and shipped it. Good advice CoreyAnn.

As for refurbished VS new. The warrantee cost is minimal compared to how much it costs to ship the system and be without an xbox. I find in this case the warrantee is worth it. I know people who got a refurbished system only for it to die a few weeks later so they had to mail it in again.

We hardly even used our xbox and it died. It was always well ventilated and off the carpet.

The main reason I don’t like refurbished products is depending on when you purchased your system for example some people may have only had it for a few months and they could end up with a refurbished xbox that was a year old. If I pay for a new product I want the new product. I could have purchased a used or refurbished one online if I wanted for less than the full retail price. Who knows how long the previous product was used, it will fail and die some day and the more it has been used the better the chances that it will die sooner.

Also depending on the product sometimes as they get older the manufacturers add different manufacturing locations. For example I had a phone that went bad a few years ago. The one I had purchased was manufactured in Singapore, the refurbished one I got was manufactured in China and was made from lower quality components. The first run was much better and I had paid twice the price of the new phones that were made in China. I felt taken advantage of because the phone although the same model was not the same it felt cheap. The case was not as nice. So there is a difference.

I understand that it is not practical for them to repair my unit and most people just want a replacement. I only wish there was an option to wait and have mine fixed.

I was talking with the guy a game stop and he sent his in three times, On the third time he called them up and gave them a little crap and they upgraded his system, He also told me that if you get the aftermarket intercooler it will void the warrantee, but if you use the Microsoft one it will not void the warrantee.

I went through 4 different 360's since they kept dying. Each time one died it was like pulling teeth with Microsoft and they sent me refurbished consoles and each time they older based on the manufacturing dates stamped. 1-2 months each time One even came non functioning right out of the box. When I got the last one, I plugged it in, it worked and I immediately sold it to end my headache. I play a Wii now and will get a PS3 soon. Loved the 360 when it was working, but it was way too much hell to ever go back.

My friend has a working NES and SNES, they're a pain to get going, because you need to clean out the cartridges so much. One day we started play just got the hell of it, and we couldn't get the system to work, so he actually called the hotline that was listed on the console, someone picked up but it wasn't Nintendo...The guy said he had a few people call about it lol. I heard they actually just ended all support for NES/SNES .
