So, over the weekend the Mrs. and I made a trip to the Oregon Coast and during the most splendid hour that I got to spend in podunk-Dundee I could hear some major squeaking from the passenger side of my car. I noticed that it would change with the speed of the vehicle. There isn't any knocking sounds or any difference between going straight or on turns. So I am comfortable ruling out CV Joints (thank God).
Past experiences have lead me to believe that the front wheel bearing needs to be replaced.
Plus my '05 just turned 65k so it's probably time.

Being a do-it-yourselfer, I have begun to look for replacement Front bearings on the web. While researching I have come across three brands and was hoping to get some feedback or past experiences. The brands I have found are as follows:
1. Timken - priced fairly reasonably at around $30-35 per bearing before shipping.
2. Beck Arnley - Higher priced at $50+ before shipping
3. OES Genuine - pricing is usually under $30 before shipping

Labor isn't a concern since I have access to a hydraulic press and all that goodness.

I have not obtained prices from any local dealers or parts stores yet. Knechts didn't have any instock & couldn't get prices until tomorrow & the Dealerships closed 15min before I started searching this evening.

 

Beck-Arnely is a very respected name in OEM replacement parts, that would be my choice or Toyota factory parts. Did you try TRDsparks.com?

if i had a 2nd vehicle i would find a time where i can pull off the bearings and see what name is stamped in the assembly or races depending on if its just the bearings and races or an assembly that unbolts and then you just bolt the new one on where the old one was. i found out the hard way on my explorer about assembled bearings that you cant take apart..... tried to separate the inner race from the outer race and half an hour later i take a look being the knuckle and i saw three bolts holding the assembly to the knuckle.

 

wow the last time that happened to me my drivers side rear wheel well started smoking. lol
