Golden Pacific Railroad - Video Clip
hey all,
I wanted to post up instead of the normal bunch of pictures a video I took recently of the Golden Pacific Railroad's "Sightseer Excursion" train.
This train is a picnic lunch train departing Tacoma's Freighthouse Square to an area just in Fredrickson. Awesome awesome catered food, drinks served onboard, and much much more.
This clip is a video showing the photo runby of the Reading 2100 steam locomotive.
Next weekend is the last operating days for Golden Pacific until next Summer. At $50 a head, it is very much worth the trip!

How cool is that!
I love train travel. Of course I've only taken the Spirit of Washington train once (for my anniversary last year) and the Sounder commuter train....but still...hehe.
Won't be able to make this train this year but next year definitely!

It is a lot of fun. I went on it again yesterday and was running a 4 car train and some 170 people onboard. A great start so far for this company who just started late Summer.
It is sad that the Spirit of Washington Dinner train ends it service July 31st, 2007.... But Ron Simms is finally going to get what he wants... his precious bike trail that will bring in "millions of people from around the world"
Also it is closing because they are going to widen the Wilburton Tunnel area and daylight it. We should all ride it as the days get closer.

I plan to! I put it on the survey for that very reason. Mo & I went on their Mystery Train ride and it was a BLAST!!!
I'm hoping that they are able to reroute the train (which they are looking into). I'm all for environment and bike trails but I agree that taking away the train was horrible (especially after these people built a big convention center at the end of the train's line). It'll be sad if they go away all together
I'll try looking into an early spring ride for the group!

Group rates are very reasonable too... We could even charter the train if I remember correctly. While I don't think we could get 200 people but the thought is always there =)
I'm hoping they will at least move it to Bellevue, backing the train up and resting on the trestle for a few minutes to get pictures then proceed to the winery. Ah well, hopeful dreams and wishes.
