Happy holidays!

My family doesn't really celebrate Christmas, and since there's nothing else for me to do (everything's closed, nothing on TV, friends are with their families), I'm pulling a 13 hour shift on Christmas! It may sound crappy...but that's 13 hours of work (90% of my time is spent surfing the net and watching DVDs) at the holiday rate of pay.

I swear I posted a reply to this thread a few hours ago...all that hard work typing for nothing

Anywhos, I'm a contract private security officer. I've been one for a year now and worked all over the county in all types of sites, but recently I pulled rank to split my time between a major regional credit union in the Boeing area (where I watch 1000+ security cameras covering our ATMs and branches in Washington, act as a dispatcher for repair crews and police to our sites, and do access control for our corporate building where I am physically at) and a major regional library (where, sadly, my main priority is to remind patrons to not use their cell phones in the library and to report stupid/illegal parking in our lot).

It's a great gig for a student - you have plenty of time for homework!

Haha, well the job certainly has it's ups and downs. When working the library, I hate it that my job is to be the jerk, and wish I could be working graveyards in Seattle dealing with drug dealers, prostitutes, and drunks, and only being an ___ when I have to be. Then again, when I'm out in Seattle, I wish I was working the library so I could be warm, interact with nice people, have a bathroom to use, have a normal sleep schedule, and not worry about being attacked.

You just can't win!

Either way though, I got my homework done.

My brother-in-law did the same thing on Christmas...he pulled a long shift at his security job down in Cali getting double pay!
