Default Heads up today about snow and driving

6 a.m. Washington Dept. of Transportation releases road conditions update:

WSDOT crews spent the night putting down sand and deicer to help morning commuters get to where they are going. As a result, most state roads are bare and wet at this hour. There are, however, a couple of icy spots where drivers must still drive with extreme winter caution.

There is a chance of snow in the greater Puget Sound lowlands this afternoon. WSDOT asks drivers to be prepared and:

fill your gas tank before you leave this afternoon

pack extra water and food in case you can't make it all the way home.

consider leaving early or staying late to miss the rush home, especially if rush hour includes snow.

main metro areas got from a trace-2"... suburbs up to 6"+ read a story from our DOT... they missjuged the snow level by about 500-1000ft... so they werent set up to hit as many as the main roads with sand/plows/de-icer that was needed...
