Hey Tomas...
I was reading a thread on the main xB forum and you said that the front emblem of Vanilla has a dragon and the back an "X".
I looked in your profile and saw the back emblem but couldn't see the front. I really, really want to see the front. Do you have a link to the place you bought them from or a better picture of it that you can share?
Are you willing to tell me where you got these neato emblems? Does anybody have the cool link hookup to a website that has all sorts of non-car specific emblems?

Thanks Gsnorgathon for the tip and the thread bumpage, lol!
Where is that Tomas anyway? He turns 60 and all the sudden he's off painting the town red and leaving us SLers to fend without his expertise in everything, lol.

Ayup. (X) is from http://www.lextasy.com/lextasy-emblem.htm and the front emblem is a belt buckle with a dragon on it that I stuck in there with 3M trim tape.
(Fit made perfect courtesy Dremel...)
The buckle looks good there, and has stayed a lot longer than intended - it was to be temp until I could finish up my lighted custom emblem.

Thanks Tomas. I like the X but didn't know it was a Lexus X.
A belt buckle and a dremel. That's a mighty fine idea! I'm going to look for Dremelable things for my front emblem now!
Thanks a bunch

Jenna, Maybe you should start a thread about front emblems to get some idea's about what can fit and what looks good. I would supply a picture of mine for your new thread.
Good idea mattross!

Gsnor... I did a search first and didn't see anything that looked like such a post. So there probably was a post like it, just titled wrongly and my post will get locked for being repetitive and scolded to use the search feature, lol. Got my fingers crossed though!

IIRC the 'cutout' in the OEM grill, if one wants their emblem to be recessed into the grill, is about 1x1.5 inches, which gives a good size for 'things' to look for.
I don't recall a 'general' emblem thread, though there have been a few on specific things prople have done - or planned to do.
Enjoy!

I used to carry a little piece of card stock cut to the right size to fit in the recessed rectangle of the grill in case I ran into something that might look nice there. I could do a quick test to verify it's size. That's how I stumbled upon the belt buckle.
I just re-measured on my spare grill and the actual size I was shooting for was 1.5x2 inches - that gives almost a 1/16th inch 'slop range' to assure the 'thing' fits in the recess. (The bottom and top edges of the recess are slightly rounded, so I wasn't going for a press fit, just one that fit nicely.)
If one wants the item to fit like a Scion pignose or Toyota bB emblem, in front of the grill covering the recess, then it has to be larger than 1 5/8x2 1/8 - preferably by a good margin, since that will just teeter on the rounded edge of the recess.
So, please mentally correct the size from what I first said to 1.5x2 inches...
Here's an old pic I snapped when I was first trying the buckle in the recess to see if it fit:

(That's before I took it apart and ground it down to fit in well recessed.)
