That's a good point Glen. No one has any idea on the judging. In fact, I emailed them today to ask what areas I lacked in so that I know for the future shows I do.

Theres always going to be people with more money than you at car shows so you should just do it and enjoy the show and not worry about winning. It loses its fun if you just go to win! Also maybe if more of these super cars start showing up then they will get their own class but till theres more peopel showing up with them then theyre not going to make a class.

:-( Sorry to hear you guys are upset! ill make sure not to bring my ferrari to an import show when im wealthy! :-)

He owns Car Nutz, but those are his cars. The other cars there (that I didn't list) are customer cars.

Like I said, He wasn't competing in a honda, or toyota or any other class. Where he won was in the 2 or 4 door class, and generally they are in the mild class, and then in the specific categorys...like interior, etc. And it all goes back to what I said...if there is an exotic class, then it just waterfalls down to the other awards.

I wouldn't say that he puts blood sweat and tears into his cars. But look at them...for the most part, they are stock. It's usually interior work, which they have a shop for all the interior stuff. So there really isn't a lot of work going into them anyway.

Make sure you don't forget about me when you are wealthy & have a ferrari.. ha ha ha

Don't get me wrong either, i had fun @ the show & will do it again. Guess I am just not used to that kind of scene 'cause when I showed in cali, we didn't have to worry about the super exotic cars (whether stock or modded) to even be in the same show. It was all about the people who put pride, sweat, tears & their own money into the cars to make them look different then a oem car.

Personally I liked that yellow lambo more then most of the cars he brought in. Tho I will say that benz was sick lookin, but just ain't my kinda car. I rather have a Porsche Carrera GT

I don't understand all the frustration, I wasn't there (sorry) but it seems like there is some animosity towards the gentleman with the exotic cars, maybe he is really into cars like the majority of us he just has more money. So at the end of the day we all dig cars. And in my opinion glen has one of the coolest xb's.

My dad was saying when he was with Porsche club that kids who had bought their first porsche would complain cuz they would lose to guys who had special ordered their porsches straight from porsche company. Granted thats a different scene but the import scene used to be just a group for kids and now more people are getting into it - including the older guys like my dad with my bros supra and what not! and these guys have MONEY! so its going to be a bit harder for us youngins to keep up! i do agree that he should feel a bit rediculous for actually trying to compete and should have just brought them to just show them off and not try win anything.

Alright...

Here's the thing about car shows...at least in the Northwest.

Go to have fun, or don't go at all. Serious. I'm not trying to diss on anyone or anything like that. But there will always be SOMETHING at a car show that ____es everyone off.

If you go into the shows expecting to never win a trophy, it will make your day a whole lot better. Because then you won't be disappointed when you don't win.

And don't try to understand the judging. You'll never get it. I've been around car shows for about 7 or 8 years now. The judging process is different with every show. Some of them are straight; some of them might be crooked. And this is just a small local show. Wait until you get into a larger national show. You think this was bad. You haven't seen anything yet.

I don't want to discourage people from going to shows. I think they are great, and I'll probably still continue to go and participate. To me, all they are now is just a way to show off my car. I really couldn't care less about winning a trophy. But that doesn't mean that I am going to tell the judges that I don't want to be judged. My car is entered and has every right to be judged. No matter how much (or how little) the car has done to it.

The same goes for Scooter and his cars. I understand what you are saying about corporate cars not being able to compete, and they should tell the judges.

Rhetorical question...But if Scion asked you to have your car in the Scion booth at a show, would you pull yourself from the competition? It's the same thing, just on a much smaller scale.

Show classifications can be real frustrating and understandibly so.

But also, remember that sometimes a show promoter can not anticipate all of the classes to have in a show. It is always a good thing as a club or even an individual to call and request a class. (if enough cars can be gauranteed with enough prepays, etc the class will usually be made) usually is a whole different story.
Some promoters are just out for the money.

Judging, thats a whole other can of worms.

Lastly, Some of you will be on a trophy hunt, and thats great, its what drives you to make your car better than the next.
Just dont forget, the trophy is only plastic, and you should be there to have a good time!!

I have been doing the show scene since 1986. VW"s Mini trucks and Lowriders and have had lots of experience with these kind of issues.

To answer your question, I don't think I would have my car judged if it were parked at a Scion booth, only 'cause it would get more attention ha ha.

I guess it does sound like I am bitter for that guy to take home all the trophies. Sure he didnt' take anyway from me personally or from our group, it was just a observation. I am aware that's going to happen at all car shows/events & there will always be someone out there with a much nicer car then mine (whether it be exotic or another scion). I just think that to be fair to others, corporate cars shouldn't be ale to compete agains other cars. For example, the fosgagte xb didn't compete amongst the other fellow scion owners & I believe it's 'cause it's a corporate car.

I asked Allie at the show and she said when she gets the paperwork all sorted out she can send us an email, just email her to let know that you want your score sheet.

One of the lead judges came over and instead of answering my question about how the show was scored told me how there were so many more things I could do to my car. And made lots of contradictory statements about what counts and what doesn't. Felt like I was listening to a politician.

One thing needs to be clear, I am not ____ed off about any of this, I HAD A GREAT TIME! Its tiring and a lot of work but still a fun way to kill an afternoon/evening. There are things about these shows I like and don't like, all I can do is learn more about them and decide which ones I want to be involved in.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I use to feel the same way. But eventually you'll see it at every show and you'll realize that it's not even worth fighting over. haha.

You think this was bad? There was a HIN a couple years ago where manufacture cars were winning awards. And that's a national show. And with that one, you start getting into the NCCA which is a whole other argument. I guarantee you that there will be a long ___ thread about the judging after that show.

The thing that irritates most people about Scooter is pretty much what you are saying. Corporate cars whouldn't be allowed to compete. I say it all the time, so I'm no different. The thing is, everyone thinks that his cars are actually Car Nutz cars. And they aren't. So technically, he isn't entering corporate cars. He just has an ___ load of money to spend on cars that most of us only see in our dreams. And that makes most people upset when it comes to car shows.

People get this wrong idea about the shop and the people there. They are very knowledgable about cars, and take great pride in the work they produce. You just have to remember that they first started in exotics, and are directly tied to exotics and high profile celebrity cars. So that's really what they pride themselves in. But they are starting to branch off more into other cars and stuff. And...they are Scion friendly. In fact Joel, the manager there, as far as we know had the first xB in Washington. He's actually had 2 xB's.

I take it none of you were at the Sand Point show a couple years ago when he showed up in his 50 foot speed boat and just docked it there.

that's where i am cornfused cuz when they called his name up for the trophy they said "Scooter from Car Nutz" so to me that means they were a company car & he was accepting the award for it.

Nope I wasn't at that show when he docked that boat & yea i have heard alot about this Joel guy.. In fact I plan on talking to him about a couple things.

It's no biggy now about him winning all that, just it is frustrating when the majority of us spend so much of our own money and our own time to install all this nice stuff in our car. Hopefully in the near future there will be a exotic class so that way it's a little more competitive against the tuner cars or for everyone else

Everybody needs to shimmer down and quit being so negitive, So not all of us won $10 piece of plastic and wood to put on our shelf and collect dust, thats not what is important, Its spending time with freinds who enjoy the same things as you, besides we are puttin scions on the map and signing new members getting tv covorage and gaining respect, Yah we got a team trophey thats awsome but I share all my trophys with you guys, with out your support I wouldnt of got it, I consider it a team trophy. Please quit complaining about little things I had a blast. If you guys are concerned about trophys and how many youhave you can have mine I dont freakin care, it really hurts me to see the negitivativty of you all. Lets just have fun i mean come on if a group of guys cant get together to oggal women, clean cars and have fake photo scavenger picture hunts, than what the hell are we doing here . Please keep the peace were a team. On that note Im sorry but I will be taking a leave of absence from posting for bit, I will post my pics before I go. I have things to take care of in my life, You peoples are great and I will miss you.

How long is a 'bit'? and I wasn't trying to be negative just trying to learn more about it. Then the answers I got from some people made me mad. But I didn't even bring that up.
Hope all is well Chase, don't be a stranger.

I don't care too much about the plastic as well... but you can't just continue to go to shows where you see people who put time effort and a ton of their own cash in their rides to see them taken down by circumstances that shouldn't occur.

Even the idea that we came away with the team trophy retained it's own contreversy... THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED.

I agree that just representing a team and having fun is what shows are all about... BUT, all the stuff that happened Saturday night just tainted the whole experience...

I'd rather just park in a parking lot and BS with you guys, walking away with no trophy, than see what happened, happen again.

I'm way too idealistic, I know....

Just can't wait for someone with the resources to start the C.S.A.A. (Car Show Association of America) and create a set of rules, criteria, and expectations for all shows to abide by... and lock them down to them. SCCA and others have some standards... but I'd love to go to a "CSAA" show and KNOW exactly everything I'm going to.

Let's focus on something more positive, like nice import models:
