Following are the 2012 State Parks "free days":
Jan 14 through 16 – Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend
March 18 and 19 – In honor of Washington State Parks’ 99th birthday on March 19
June 9 – National Get Outdoors Day
Sept. 29 – National Public Lands Day
Nov. 10 through 12 – Veterans Day weekend
I had no idea they had "Free Days" in the schedule, but if it gets moved to Saturday the 9th, we need to make the covered area reservation NOW!
I suspect those eight days are going to be HEAVILY booked very quickly...

Yes, you do have to pay to reserve the big covered shelter with eletricity fireplace. Its determined by the number of people you think will be there. With our group, whoever rents this will have to pay the larger amount because we get such a good turnout. A few people over the last few years have stepped up and paid this. We would pay it again this year, but we don't know for sure if we will be able to make it, all depends on what is going on with Shirley at the time.
I don't remember, I want to say $70, but not sure. There is a 800 number that you have to call to reserve the site, 888-campout. They will walk you thru the process, name of park, Seaquest, day use covered kitchen, something like that, lol.
sweet deal Cliff, it will be noted in the official announcement of the cruise that the site was paid for by you.
In addition to entrance to the park being free that day( great find Rob) please don't forget there is still a fee at Johnston Ridge, which is $8 per person and I think free for kids 15 and under. As always this is a potluck as alway's and I hope to be able to have the Scion regional people involved again.
