Default PDX Area Body Shop for 5axis Lip Kit Paint and Install

Can someone recommend a body shop in the Portland area for painting and installation of a FIVEaxis body kit (2009 xB)? I'm looking for someone who does quality work at a fair price. Ideally, on the west side of town (West Hills, Cedar Mill, Beaverton, Hillsboro or Tigard). And would prefer someone who has experience with the FIVEaxis kits.

Thanks,
PDX_xB

Anthony,

Do you work for Beaverton Toyota? If so, in what capacity (sales, service, etc.). Do they do paint and body work on site, or send it out? If they do it on site, do you know if they have experience specifically with the Five axis kit? I've heard it requires special prep work, and perhaps a special kind of paint. I'm looking for a fair price (always), but what I really want is a shop with a proven track record painting these kits.

Thanks,

As the Scion Manager for Beaverton Toyota-Scion I sent out three (3) xB kits for paint, two (2) were installed by the shop. Teske Design (Matt) and I installed the third at the Portland Auto Show as part of our tuner xBerience within the KingPin Car Audio booth. Each one painted by a different shop.

The Five Axis kit is of the highest quality, all I have experience with fit perfect right out of the box. It is my opinion that Nick (please help me with his name on here) has the most experience with this type of product in the Portland Metro Area. Not going to give out his number on here to respect his privacy. Amazing painter and has been a big part of the PDX tuner scene for years. He should be the only one touching your kit.

Most shops will not touch body kits due to most kits being of very poor quality. They don't want to deal with the hassles of be-backs. Plus Nick will probably give you a much better price.

Doug,

Thanks for the detailed reply. I saw the car you mentioned at the Portland Auto Show. We went to the Auto Show to look at new minivans for my wife (ended up buying her a Kia Sedona about a month later). The Scion booth was next to the Hyundai booth. While my wife was looking at their minivans, I mosied over and fell in love with the xB. Ended up getting an RS6.0 on the last day of the cash for clunkers program.

I don't mind doing the install myself (if it will save a few bucks). I downloaded the installation instructions and it looks pretty simple - especially after all I've read about the great fit of this kit.

I'd definitely be interested in talking to Nick about painting the kit. I plan to keep this car a LONG time. So, I want it done right from the beginning. Is Nick a member here? If so, what's his username? If not, send me a PM with his phone number (with his permission, of course).

Thanks,

Allie,

Thanks for the help. I'll drop Nick a PM. If I don't hear back from him, I'll let you know.

My Five Axis kit isn't here yet. I just won the sides and back yesterday on eBay, and haven't ordered the front lip yet (but I do have a favorable quote from one of our ScionLife sponsors).

pretty sure the xB 5 Axis kit is pretty much prep and bolt right on,the tC kit has a litle bit of sanding work to fit perfectly.

From everything I've read, the Five Axis kit for the xB is a perfect fit and an easy install. You can view the installation instructions here.

Yep I would take it in to get painted and just do install yourself to save money that a shop would charge..........the side skirts may need a bit of sanding and triming to get them perfect.......the tC kit has about 8 hours prep work since the side skirts need a bit of shaping.......but everything else was bolt right up and tape it on......I seem to remember the sideskirts on the xB hung on under the doors and should fit perfect.
