Default Picked up a new car...

So as of last night I now own an AE86 going to pick it up tonight (gotta trailer it) and then start working on it this weekend. Looks like the xB is going on the back burner for a bit!

I keep looking at a Supra TT on CL.......it has been off and on for months, the car has a lot of miles but it would be nothing more than a weekend cruising car.........wish I had more money to blow on toys.......

ugh the AE86... i love and hate those things... but its a hatred that can only come from owning one... lowering it is like the most expensive endeavor on the planet. you need the springs and of course the struts/shocks (cause what is on there is blown 99% of the time). then you need an adjustable 4 link and lat rod or the axle wont sit right and you will get hella grip on right hand corners and none on left. oh and the tension rods in the front will need to be adjustable or the caster wont come in and of course you need camber plates up front for obvious reasons. and while you are at it you might as well replace all of the super tired bushings that you will encounter in the mix of all this with polyurethane. oh and then lets not forget the adjustable front sway bar you will need so that you can fight the sometimes insurmountable understeer. and at the end of all of this you still have a car that can handle pretty good but doesnt even have 120 bhp. and lets admit it... the whole time you are sitting there wishing it was a LEVIN cause they look way cooler than the TRUENO. oh but just a heads up... if you want the most bad a$$ed looking 86 in the world... instead of putting fender flares on it (played out) go to a company called "J-BLOOD" and get there 20 mil over fenders... they are super awesome. that and since i had em i havent seen another set in person. and skip the 20 valve motor if you dont already have it (you mention a swap) and just stick with the 16 valve... you can make plenty of power on that while staying N/A.

oh and p.s. if you are an aspiring to do anything except look good in this car (i.e. drift, autoX, time attack) anytime you find axles for sale you buy them. cause they dont make them anymore and i even bent them in my SR5. if you hit anything they bend at the hub and you are screwed.

lol The suspension mods, lat bars, and everything else is already planned, I know what I'm getting into no worries there, after all, it is a project car. The struts and shocks on the one I got are actually in good shape, but I do need new springs, the kid that owned it before me decided to chop the crap out of the ones that are there, stupid kid. Already saw that I need the camber plates as the camber is off way beyond belief (positive camber on the passenger, negative on the driver), so I will be ordering those with the springs end of this week more than likely. And in reality I like the way the Trueno looks way more than the Levin (sorry just my opinion) but not to say I don't like the Levin, it's bad a** too. The swap is actually a 4AC to just another 4AC but he swapped from an auto to a stick and did a terrible job, so I'm in the middle of fixing that so the car is at least drivable, but I will be swapping to the 4AG sometime later down the line, the engine was actually relatively easy to find I found. Car will probably be set up for drift, it will be my second drift car I've set up so yay! lol Thanks for the heads up though, any info is awesome
