So some of you know already i was rear ended today at exit 232 off i five on my way to mt. baker for some pictures, the woman said i stopped suddenly....well actually i was already stopped for a minute or more, then she insisted that i NOT call the police or the Insurance company, i told her i'm sorry it doesnt work that way, then when i asked for her insurance info and her license she just went and wrote the info down and was avoiding giving me the officiial documents, when she tried this i told her, i need to see the official documents, the license had a hole punched in it, her insurance looked good, and seems to be, its through farmers so as long as there is no laps im sure it will be fine....she looked at the damage and said "what damage i dont see any thing, thats nothing" i told her i pride my vehicle and even the slightest scratch is SOMETHING....wshen the cop arrived she insisted over and over and over i still had her insurance and license...the cop finally got the info from her....luckily it was a 2005 hyundai accent so its only the bumper....mom's neck, back, and hips hurt....but they said she'll be fine in a couple days, but if anything goes numb to go see a dr immediatly, and my insurance company already has me set up for a saftey / damage appraisial on tuesday..

What damage..........it is at that point I stuff the person in the back of my car,drive them to a nice secluded point,and beat the tar out of them.......sounds like she was driving with no liscense and probably no insurance,also it does not matter if you suddenly stopped or had been there for 20 minutes,there is no reason to ever hit a car from behind........hope she got a nice ticket,and good for you for calling the cops when she seemed sketchy......

JK on taking them to the woods,but it makes you feel that way huh........lol

 

you know josh.........there is a 800 number onthe insurance card,did you call it at the time of the accident to verify she really has insurance........too many lying poeple out there who do not car if you get screwed.

That sucks Josh, you should have informed her that it was her responsibility to not hit you, weather you stopped or not.

You are lucky it's only the bumper - I got hit from behind in the left rear quarter just forward of the tail light grazing the bumper. Well I just washed and polished the area that got hit and saw how poor the paint blending was as well as the over spray onto the roof and the orange peel along the bottom edge of the rear side window and I had $2600 in damages. The guy that hit me had Farmers too so lucky you they actually pay . . . two months later.

 

That sucks. If you wanna fix it yourself and pocket the extra cash, let me know, I may be able to get you a deal on the bumper/paint. My brother is having Casper's done now for a good price.

Of course we're still on for wednesday, unless they need my car on wednesday for more estimate work, the agent i spoke with said i was 100% not at fault, so no out of pocket for me

I dunno how i would be able to convince her insurance / my insurance to allow me to just get money from that, plus i would like a warranty on at least the paint

actually she wasnt a girl at all, more like a 50's something woman, with her probably early - mid 90's mom in the car, the lady couldnt find anything, and at one point pulled out a costco sized ziploc baggy from her purse that was filled with 8 or 9 perscriptions, im sure she was toasted out of her mind or something....

 

the impact to my car was on the drivers rear. hers was on the passenger front corner, which means that she saw it comming and TRIED to swerve to miss me....Still ____es me off though that she had the ***** to say "what damage" if i didnt need the money or care about jail time i prolly would have laid her out right there....and I'm NOT one to ever condone hitting a woman....man i was sooo pumped, after the impact i sat in my car for about 45 seconds before getting out, trying to cool down before i got out to see the damage, my mom however was out of the car and screaming at the woman almost literally AS it happened, i was like WHOA....the lady was sitting in her car looking all confused like "What why are you yelling at me???"

 

that sucks dude. good to hear nobody was seriously hurt.

 

on the plus side of things, we were on a photography outing so my mom had her Nikon D300 with her for some awesome damage shots, ill try to get them from her and post them online, mines the only one that got the angle right to see where the bumper split.....ohh and what speed do you have to be hit before the airbags deploy??

 

does anyone know legal jargon? on the police report, for her car it had a box for "Vehicle in Legal Standing" with a yes/no box, the officer checked "No"

 

Iv'e heard 10-12 mph if your unbelted, and up to 16 mph if your buckled up.

 

Vehichal in Legal Standing..........it meens was the vehichal in the right to do what it did to warrent police interaction.For instance in this case does the law was she broke a traffic law,YES,rearended another car,therfore breaking the law and has no legal standing to warrent objection.If hse has no liscense then no legal standing,no insurance no legal standing,unsafe driving such as speeding no legal standing.....under influance no legal standing.

so i was going through my papers from the accident cause i wanted to call her insurance company to verify her coverage status, and i came across the first peice of paper she tried to give me as her "insurance information"...all that was on this paper was the name of her insurance company and her social security number...WTF??? her SOCIAL???? how is that supposed to help me get her insurance information...and how stupid do you have to be to give out your SOCIAL???

ohh yea, according to her insurance co. her policy IS active, so thats good news, going to all state claims tomorrow for the estimate and stuff, will update again tomorrow
