Rear-ended **UPDATE 06/23 The pick-up**
Josh.........what you need to do it got say Titus will and get estamate to replace and repaint bumper, have insurance cut you a check for that amount and then buy a bumper from dealership and have it painted by someone and pocket the extra $400 and enjoy the hassle.......really.......paint is paint.......especially on a bumper and it is hard to screw it up.......I have seen good body shops screw up paint........so I say just get the bumper using the Titus will parts discount form feed the need show that we still have andget it painted.
Sounds like you did all the right stuff under pressure, Josh! I'm proud of you! :D
Sad to see a hurt box, but "it happens."
Should be a simple, straightforward fix.
Ine question: Did you or your mom get a pic of the driver? That is always a good idea, especially if they seem shady in any way (and she certainly did).
That's in case she is NOT the owner or if the owner claims she wasn't driving the car.
Over all, though, you took all the right steps.
(I won't even get into her "it's nothing" sort of comments - last person to hit my poor defenseless box had the same attitude, and it was very difficult to remain even a little bit polite to the stupid b!^@#. I hope her insurance company straightened her out a little bit on that after they had to cough up around $1800...)
Keep us informed!

ok estimate is in
$155 for new bumper cover
$4 for tow hook cover
$108 paint materials
$350 labor
small tiny ding on lower left bumper skirt, wasnt bothered by it, adjuster was so he said he would include that....body shop im taking it to is a preferred shop, so any "additional damage" the adjuster didnt see can be "direct billed" gonna mention how my rear struts creak now when someone gets in or out of the back seat.

That doesn't seem too out there. I just got Casper a oem bumper for 111.00 and paint for 150.00.
When my front got hit, the estimate was like 1200 for the bumper and paint and a couple misc. pieces. I fixed it myself for 225.00 and pocketed the rest. And I did the work, so i know some asshat wasn't messing something else up!

hehe asshat.....any way, i'm going to be taking it to Kirmac Collision center in auburn, they are the ones who did my car last time and we take all our stuff there....gonna have them try and figure out what the creeking noise is comming from the rear struts now whenever someone gets in or out of the back
If you can help it go directly through the person at faults insurance every time......you have like 48 hours to get with them,Farmers has a 800 # so call it at the scenee even,I do........
after 48 hours you could end up paying your deductable as they can be jerks and refuse to pay and then it is on.........been there done that........insurance companies hate to pay anyting.

luckily when i called farmers today they were able to see in the notes that i called yesterday reporting it and checking on the status of the ladies policy, so it seems as though they have accepted to run the claim, as their adjuster will be calling me by end of business day tomorrow
Yeah I went through the $500 deductable and the rental car charges because I went through my insurance instead of the other guys - funny how my insurance company had such a hard time explaining that to me when I got the damage assessed. Well anyway more bonas points on my credit card towards Amazon stuff.
Yes you should always call the other person's insurance first and file the claim with them. Because it's their fault. They will first record a testimate from their driver, and then one from you, and along with the police report, assign responsibility. It is only after they have agreed that you were not at fault will they tell you if the other driver is indeed insured.
That said, take it to the repair shop (any repair shop you want, do not choose a shop just because the insurance company reccommended it) immediately and start the paperwork there. Most places allow you to sign over the insurance checks to them. Meaning that you can have the insurance check sent directly to the shop, or to you. If you have it sent to you, you can take it straight to the shop, where you can sign it over to them. This is a very smart thing to do, because if the shop expenses go over the initial estimate, the repair shop can go directly after the insurance, so you don't have to do anything. Also, if the repair men know this, they are more likely to take their time, as opposed to knowing that they will only get paid for a prefixed amount.
Food for thought.

I can take my car in to my shop any time i want, which i will do tomorrow....and the "Meeting" was with the farmers insurance claims agent, she wanted to interview my mom and see how her medical injuries were, nothing is bothering her any more so she settled out with only the bills being paid and $500 in "inconvenience" money
Dropped off Digi_Box at Kirmac at 1:30pm yesterday, got my 06 chevy cobolt LT rental, called them today at 4:00pm, he was done so i picked him up...good as new
