Default Scion Evolution Weight Loss Challenge

So I got to thinking tonight, after a conversation with a friend, what good are we doing for the community as a car club if we dont even take care of ourselves?

The answer was nothing... :0

SO in response to that I am offering up two challenges This is the first of those two.

The Scion Evolution weight loss Challenge!

What: a weight loss challenge open to anyone in the Northwest Toyota and Scion Community.
When: June 1 through June 30
How: Post up your current weight and body mass index Follow the link to find it out.(http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/...calculator.htm)

At the end of the month, we will award two prizes.

Greatest Pounds Lost
Biggest Change in BMI

Please post your info and get ready to lose!

Dustin
295 lbs
BMI - 40 (I dont think of myself as obese but hey if the CDC says it, it must be true because its coming from our governement.)

I've had friends that have gone nuts trying to lose weight. Eating disorders and the like. So I've seen self-destruction before.

To reiterate what Dustin said -- while this challenge looks very encouraging at face value, don't think of the one-month end date as the be-all and end-all. Keep going even after the month is up. What you can't get taken care of in one month SURELY can be taken care of in the months thereafter. There are healthy ways of losing weight, but they do take time.

I don't necessarily think I need to lose weight (for those of you who have met me already...yeah, I'm a twig), but rather just to get in shape. While I may look fit (5'6" 140, 22.6BMI), running an eighth-mile will show you just how out-of-shape I am. While I'm not directly going to compete with you guys, I've definitely got to continue up with my new year's resolution that I kinda slowed down with in March. I'll be there trying to keep up cardiovascular-wise with all of you.

By no means am I fitness expert or a nutritionist, I just want to look out for my fellow SLers. Mind over matter, gang! Good luck to all of you! =)

so I'm a little disapointed. Only a small handful of trail blazing individuals willing to participate?

This is something we should be doing anyway and I'm offereing to pay you for it!!!!!

Come on guys, even if you are not a big guy like me, I think almost everyone out there could stand to live a little healthier for at least one month... Its not all about losing weight..

I would, but I'm in Florida... Maybe there is a way someone on SL can do this nationwide... that would be pretty cool.

tell you guys what, For this tim, if your chapters want to participate, then sweet. I dont have much by way of goodies but if there is enough interest, then I'll set up a national level challenge.

Maybe there would be more interest if there was a financial interest. I'm willing to throw some $ in to make sure that I'm held accountable. Anyone else with a few bucks to throw in? Then the winner can take the "kitty".

Also, how does this work logistically? Do we all meet on June 1st for the start? Are we on a "scouts honor"? Do we meet at the end? Let me know...also, anyone else in the south King County, North/East Pierce County area doing this?

I don't feel like getting into a contest about it since I've been going pretty hardcore since late January :p

I'm gonna brag anyway, I started at 370, 55% and today im at 349 39% :p

Starting's the hard part guys ^_^

Get into a good routine with weight lifting and cardio, eat the right things at shorter intervals to keep the metabolism up and find someone to go with you since cardio and weights by yourself or without music SUCKS

Well, if it was obvious that someone didn't loose any weight, but claimed like 20 lbs... we'd probably tar and feather them.
