She was pretty so i took her home...
yeah mine actually is the style with the trunk... which is good because they actually balance better than the hatchback model... less weight at the top... that and it has a trunk that i can mount a big ridiculous spoiler on!!! j/k would never do that. now its time to hunt down a set of TRD springs and struts... stock ride is killing me. got the alternator.... need to install that tommorow. found a place to get a 20valve for a little more than a grand from japan with 60K on it (wiring harness included)... now i have benchmark for funds to aim for. camera is still broken which sux cause i promised pictures of both my new seats (in my tC) and my new baby. i'll prolly steal either my cousins or my dads soon and post up some pics (fingers crossed) tommorow.
sure it may balance better, but how will you deliver tofu? and make sure to drive with a cup full of water!
actually i just don't like the way the sedan looks, but still, it is a hachi rouku man, you are a lucky lucky guy!

so i finally got around to doing the first oil change... anyone ever done this on a used car... first thing you do is pray that the drain plug isnt stripped out... after that you pray that oil actually does come out... you also pray that oil is the only thing that comes out. not coolant or metal shavings or chunks of bearing material... after its drained you stick a magnet up inside that sum beach and fish around for the forementioned metal shavings and chunks of bearing material... good news... i didnt find either and or.
after that i got a little excited and went for the differential... i was optimistic... that went away quick when i cracked the filler plug and something that looked vaguely like runny orange sherbert came out... not so good... so i drained that all out and took out the removalbe third member only to find that the stock differential in an ae86 is astoundingly resilient... it was in perfect working order. just dirty as all heck... so i cleaned it up and crammed it back in (not really, its a little difficult to get back in).
so the good news is this... it leaks oil... but the bottom end is solid. i havent cracked the tranny yet but i know that the rear seal is bad. cause it leaks like crazy... why is this good news? cause its leaking oil... not burning it. so still hunting down a new oil pan gasket and a rear seal... problem lies in that i dont want to do the rear seal till i do the clutch (convenience issue) and i dont have the dough for a clutch right now... so it will continue to leak oil... next is the tranny flush and reseal and rebuilding the carbereutor (cause whenever i get on the gas the cars falls on its face)... oh fun fun fun... i love project cars. oh yeah i need plugs and wires too... mostly i just need the 4ac thats in it to run well till the end of next summer when i imagine i can afford a 20 valve 4age. then its on like donkey kong in a yellow thong... yeah thats right... that thong tha tha tha thong. ok im done... i just get excited.

when i was in the army my squad leader (phil) was married. his borther in law is a regional grand high muckymuck for TRD. so i asked phil if he could get me a good deal on the TRD struts and race springs for my new found 86... he said that toyota doesnt get them anymore but his good friend bob from "drift office" could give me the hella hook up on them... so im going up there (auburn) after the deck the hall ball to meet with the drift office guys and pick there brains about options for the car. yay for me and my recent good luck.

There is a place on East marine drive that I used to get parts for my 86 at. It's called Toyota/Mazda Auto recyclers. Basically it's a junk yard for Toyota and Mazda. You can get almost anything there. I bought 3 LSD rear's and 2 transmission's there as well as countless axel's. (big power little parts).
