I have gotten my oil done at:

Auburn - my preference because of the quick in-and-out and express oil area off the main building.

Puyallup - but ran into same appt problem and service techs trying to get Mo to buy a new cabin filter for an xB that was less than 6 months old and "talk him up" into getting a higher end oil filter.

Seattle - tried to get an appt but they make Puyallup seem like minutes to their eons...they wanted to book out over a month away for an oil change...and you had to drop off the car in the morning for it to be done 'sometime' during the day...wtf??? Of course...never took it in there because of this ridiculous service dept!!!

Rodland - I will say...I had a HORRIBLE experience the one time I went up to Rodland back in 2005. I happened to be in the area...my first box was just about to hit 5K miles and I needed an oil change because I had driven over 200 miles that day. It was like 4:20 when I rolled up...no one around...tech says "cool, we'll get you right in"...

Then service manager makes him take it back out of the bay because "We're Closed"...at 4:20???...he says "No appts after 4:30"...I say "It's 4:20"...he says too bad. They didn't have any other cars in the bay and he was shutting things down so I can only assume he just wants to go home. I tell him...please...I'm so far from home...it'll only take a few minutes...he says "No. If you want an oil change come back tomorrow and we'll see what we can do then".

He was sooooooooo rude too. He just had such attitude....such a jerk. I promptly went out and called the Scion Corporate customer service number on the dealership...opened up an official ticket at 4:25 pm which is of course...BEFORE THEY CLOSE! The corp peeps passed the ticket onto regional. I never know what happened but I have stayed away from Rodland because of it. I'm hoping that with this new effort that they showed last week that they may be "turning a tide" so to speak.

the only thing that may be a problem is dropping off the used oil at a place for proper disposal.. .
most auto parts stores will accept it and some "jiffy/grease/q/bucky's" whatever will take it... tho around here we've had the problem of "oh we cant accept it because our container is full.." or something like that

CoreyAnn, I've had something similar happen with me at Rodland.

I hightailed it down there after getting my children of the bus. I called ahead of time to ask how late they were open and since I was cutting it so close, if they would take me in if I wre to show a few minutes late.

So after rushing down there from Stanwood, I pull up at 4:28 and they said they were closed... not only closed but that all the oil change people had clocked out and gone home. I itched them out royal for it... they could of told me on the phone that even though they say they don't take any more appointments past 4:30, they really mean 4:20 or earlier (I mean if at 28 after they're clocked out and have left). I mean, I called their butts less than an hour ago, I rushed from Stanwood. Change my oil... find someone and make them clock back in!

They changed my oil. I guess I did lie when I said I had never gotten and oil change there in under a half hour. I did leave feeling as though they might of not even of changed my oil though.

Yeah, Rodland Oil Changes suck.

^ yeah I started nticing that too! Luckily for me we have like 5 auto parts stores around that take used oil, and I have a list on the fridge and just call first.

I did have a slight issue like mentioned before as well Mobil didn't have the right air filter for my car so @ 23K I am still running my 1st airfilter (unless they are actually changing it w/t the LOF).

Thanks for the refresh, I actually had this happen to me at Auburn once when I pulled up in line. But after getting refused I went up to the parts and service area where I was able to to talk to the Service Manager and he made things straight. But other then that I wish they would keep their doors open and for an extra hour in the evenings.

I would much rather spend the $30 and 20 minutes of my day doing it myself. I know it is done right and with quality oil/filters.

In 27 of the 29 cars I've owned, and in several of my father's cars before I was even driving, I've changed the oil, filters, plugs, etc., myself. Since I can no longer do that, the two Scions parked out front get their oil changed by someone else. I miss doing it myself.

I've always trusted my workmanship more than that of some random person, but even more than that, I trust that if I screw up I will admit it - I don't have that level of trust with most folks.

avoid jiffy lube. if you did a search on the net, there are many horror stories.

like claiming they changed your oil when they didnt, changing your oil but not the filter, changing the oil but forgot to screw the oil cap back on, etc....

Well, I guess I'll just go back to changing my own oil again like I've done with all my past cars. It was a nice convenience while the free ones lasted.

I'm glad I've never gone to Jiffy Lube though... yikes!

Well, if we weren't already scolded into changing our own oils (LOL), I could always go to the Jiffy Lube when my friend is working. I would hope he'd ensure people would do a good job.

I do wonder though... Jiffy Lube is a HUGE corporation, right? Perhaps the likelihood of that crap happening anywhere is just the same... just since everywhere else is a lot smaller and not national chains, you don't see such information on it. Know what I mean?

I appreciate all your replies. No Rodland, husband to go back to changing our oil, won't void warranty, proper documentation, Purple Noogie Oil at Nappa, Jiffy lube blows, trust whomever you have change oil. Sounds good!

after the 3 free, I have done my own oil changes. I don't trust some newbie tech making $8 an hour to to a good job on my car. Besides I car run full synthetic for the same or less than what it would cost at the dealership.

By the way Jenna, my wife said it only took 40min at Rodland. They quoted her 1.5 hrs.

Wow. That's not right either. I mean, a pleasant surprise if you were waiting but not for me who turned around in a huff and went to the Jiffy Lube.

Like Erik G said last page (I think) do we want to do this as a tech day item? We could do a north end and south end one? Anyone interested?

Well, I suppose it'd be good for me to learn how to change my own oil in case of husband death or husband injury. I don't think we worked out oil changes in our life insurance plan.

Unfortunatly if for ny reason you need warranty work done engine wise you need reciepts of oil and filters purchased when you do the change yourself. We ran into this issue with our matrix. If you get the work done at a shop they keep the records for you ie. Jiffy Lube or the dalership.

ok so I am so sorry that I have been off line for so long. You know Sunday was basicaly a vegitave day for me other than I got a hair cut and went to costco. Then I went back home and finished up an embroidery order. Then lets see yester day I was at the little brothers house doing the thingy with TV, you know the sell this house thingy. And did not get home till late. This morning had the yearly meeting with the corprate Attorneys. it has been a long and crazy weekend

ok so to answer your questions. We have a quick lube and if you do not want your car washed it can only take about 25 minutes they do it while you wait. The times can be a little longer depending on how many they have that day but for the most part they are pretty consistant. Of course you do run inot the ocasion person trying to upsale you on products that you may or may not need. And yes it even happens to me and I work here.

As far a jiffy lube or one of the other shops. It really does not effect your warrenty, the warrenty thing is really strange and far to complicazted to explain in a posting. But the long and short of it is, If something goes wrong with your car and it can be traced back to an issue that you have had done such as aftermarketstuff, or something that you have failed to do properly: then and only then will just that portion of the warrenty be voided.

Now this is me talking and not the dealership. I have had things done in the past by express lube places and I have done them myself as well. For the most part for me it is the convience of someone else doing it becasue I never have had time in the day to do it myself anymore.

Personal expeirence from an express lube place, I had them strip the oil pan trying to put the oil pan plug back in and had my engine seize because of it. Also had them not put the correct oil filter on my car or even change the oil filter because they did not actually have it in stock.

I ahve had plenty of problems with these express lubes so if I am going to have some one do anything to my car other than me, I will have it done at the dealership. Cause if I have it done there and something goes wrong because of thier neglect I have some one to back at. And the other thing I always do if some one actually works on my car other than me, is I ask to see the part that they took off of the car. That way they know that you are checking on them. I have ven gone so far as to mark the oil filter to check and make sure that it is not the same one on the car.

I gues point of the matter is if you are not going to do it your self take it to a dealer because they have the most to loose if they screw up your car.
